Timing belt tensionner ??? #185172

Hi, my 93 Laser RS AWD, needs a timing belt tensionner, it has 135 000KM, the timing belt and balance beltwere replaced at 100 000KM, can i only replace the tensionner or do i need to replace all the stuff that Conicelli have on their website for the timing belt, idler pulley, tensionner pulley, timing belt, balance belt, and everything else, I don't know what i should order to be safe....

Hi Martin,

You can replace just the tensioner on it's own. However, the labour to do so will be about the same as doing the timing belt itself.

I find it odd that it wouldn't have been replaced at the time when the belt was done (100,000km), as it is one of the parts to be checked for wear when the T-Belts are being replaced.

If it was checked as O.K. (or replaced) at that point in time, and it is bad now, I would question the shop that did the work... you have only put 35,000km on it, and it's now failing?

The Stupid Chrysler dealer didn't change it and said it was still good. The thing is that i told them to change it but they didn't and didn't write it down so i have no proof that i told them to change it....

I'll probably do the job myself.
