I've been trying to figure out what the power train unit is. I have a used 1990 A/T eclipse GS. The thick black cable labeled Power TR unit (that IS the powertrain right???...)isnt pluged into the slot in the back of the engine. What could be the reason why its previous owner would want to unplug the PTU? Also, do only Canadian DSMs have this b/c people in other DSM forums they never heard of this...maybe its only automatics.

Maybe it's the switch connector for the Power/Economy button for the tranny?

Just a shot in the dark...

I believe that plugs into the coil pack. It's not on my 1.8L, and it's on my 2.0L NT, so it probably has something to do with the distributor-less system in the DOHC...
