Does not add up to a complete belt. Rest turned to dust. Just another grim reminder to change/inspect your balance shaft belt. You would not want bits of belt getting tangled in your Timing belt do you? This is my 3rd DSM with shredded Balance shaft belts.
300hp Talon to a 50hp Citroen. Lovely ain't it? Back to another Mits. A Mirage Cyborg as a future 4G63T candidate.

it would be nice to remove the balance shafts..but this is the gf's car.
I already had enough mess with the balance shaft belt. I had to change all the bs-pulleys to get it to use a talon bs-belt (this is a SOHC 2.0L). For some stupid reason, mitsu decided to use different pulleys and belts for the same bs setup (different waterpump as well). Stupid dealer wanted $50 for the bs belt so I just put in a spare twincam bs belt and pulleys i had lying around.

The balance shafts still spin at the same speed (the pulleys are the same size). Its just that the cogs are larger (less teeth)and same with the belt). Incidentally, i had to change to the smaller Balance shaft belt tentioner pulley of the DOHC engine since the DOHC belt was about 2 teeth shorter. This 2.0L motor might have the same BS set-up as the 1.8 SOHC.
