I read you can get a Pacesetter header for the NT from Canadian Tire. Anyone bought this? How much $$$ ? My exhaust manifold is cracked so I might as well get a header.
Also will I lose alot of torque by removing the cat if I keep the stock exhaust?

Hey Man!

I don't know if you read the topic I posted on The Non-Turbo modification but I just installed a Pace Setter Headers on my ride.

I did a little fitting and rework the inside as it was not all that free of restrictions.

Overall I don't think that they are that bad. Have a look at the page I did on it. I still need to update the page but have a look at it.http://www.lks.net/~ghislisa/Headers.htm

I payed $230 at a local speed shop. You might be able to get them for about $250 at Crappy Tire. I bought mine while there were on sale.

Hope this helps.

Ghislain.

Hey there,

I installed pacesetter headers too and they are fantastic! I also have exhaust and intake mods but it gave me lots more power around 4,000+ rpm! It's the best mod I've done so far. Two friends and a couple of beers on a Sunday afternoon were well worth it! I got mine from UAP for around the same price. They both order it from the "Keystone" catalog anyway so it makes no difference.

Note: There are 2 types of pacesetter headers. The normal painted-black cheap ones, and the ceramic-coated ones. The ceramic ones are about $100 more. I wanted to get them but there was a 8 week wait on them! So I got the cheap black-painted ones. The paint burns off within 20 minutes (this is normal as the paint is only there for shipping). I painted mine after everything was burned off with nice silver hi-temperature manifold paint. It looks great!

If you want more details on installation and stuff (like my problems with the O2 sensor), then we could maybe start a new post.

Always looking for ways to make my NT faster! [Linked Image]

Does anyone have the part # for the Canadian Tire header? The goof at the Parts desk lost his book and I've got nowhere else to go in Saskatchewan

I know the feeling.

70-122 but I'd double check before I'd order.

Crappy tire as a "Special Order Catalog". Most store have it on the part counter if not ask Bozo to have a look at it. There is a section on "Pace Setter" This is were you'll fing the PN.

Hope this helps.

Ghislain.

Yeah, he told me Pacesetter doesn't make headers for imports but I was pretty sure EVERYONE else had them so I said look it up but he couldn't find the book. I'll go in there later. Has anyone with an NT tried removing the cat? Is it good or Bad?

Mine still in but I'm thinking about it...

It would also be a good idea to put one of those Dyno 29 bucks cat back... Anybody has one laying around???

Removing the cat on an NT is not a good idea, It may boost high end HP slightly but low end torque is sacrificed to a good extent. And I don't think mine is much different from others when I say it doesn't have a ton to spare.

Hey Tim!!!

It still says Sudbury as your home town...

We know what we are talking about when it comes to spare a few ponies... I guess your right it could hurt the bottom HP.

Ghislain. Remember the guy next door in Trenton... LOL

I beg to differ on removing the cat issue, I recently had my Cat and my Resonator removed and a Bluebottle (glasspack) put in as a replacement to keep the noise down. All I can say is that I love it! My car is definately more driveable as of now and the noise level, believe it or not, has decreased from before. It also gave me better gas mileage and more responsive motor. All for a measly $90. I kept the old parts and can also replace them any time I want to. I HIGHLY recommend doing this! My timeslips prove it the performance benefit.

I put the pacesetter Headers on my car as well I went to a 2.5" Monza catback system. But I cut off the muffler and put on a 2 chamber flow master. It has been the best thing I have ever done. My gas milige increased and my hp deffinatly increased. I still want to remove my cat but have not had the time. But like I Say It has been one of the best bods I have done.

Lagley B.C.

I want to go to B.C Man. I'm asking my career manager (Military Stuff), maybe in a year or two...

Wish me luck.

For the catback stuff; I want to get a 2.5" whenever the one I got (stock) goes. I'll probably go to an aftermarket Cat too.

Did not see any improvement after the header install. Well, got to admit I reinstalled the front B saft belt, the old one was busted, guess it chewed up the power gain the header install should of give... 5 to 10 HP I guess.

Next winter will be (hope to) rebuild a new bottom end and free a few ponies by removing both B shafts.

Rock on BC. BTW do you Scuba Dive???

Ghislain.
