Hello all.

Got a question reguarding some throttle body differences between two 1G 2.0L NT.

Why are they sporting different TB???

Tim's got a 1991 Talon with the 2.0L NT 5 speed and cruse control. I got a 1991 Laser also sporting a 2.0L NT 5 speed without cruse.

Throttle body in my Laser is 60mm. Tim's around 55mm (measured a gasket). He's going to replace it with a larger 60mm similar to the one in my Laser.

The one he's got in his car now also has different ISC, TPS and vacuum line routing. The new ISC works with the existing connector and harness (slaved the new ISC in). Therefore, the TPS wire harness will need to be replaced in order to be connected to the new unit. We had a good look at the car's harness and the wire diagram. No brainer. Vacuum lines even easier.

These cars are the same year (1991), both 2.0L NT 5 speed; only difference, Tim's has cruse.
I don't have much previous history on my ride except the fact I'm the second owner. Tim had a talk with both previous owners and his sled is sporting the same motor as when it was born.

I also observed a 1993 2.0L NT 5 speed Laser with the same TB as my 1991.

Any info will be appreciated.

Ghislain.

Ghislain, I just got done looking up the parts on the mitsu parts center I have and it looks like they switched throttle bodies halfway through the 91 production year.

Production Date / Throttle Body part #
(Year/Month)

8805-9006 / MD129140
9006-9204 / MD146232

Check the dates on your cars to see if they fall in these different categories....
