OK, I'm just sitting here at work, trying to figure out why the heck you would take out the aircan on a NT car? I mean, I looked at mine, and it seems to "funnel" air from behind the headlight. Yet, if you remove the aircan, there is no direct path for the air to get into the air filter, it kind of just works it's way there. Wouldn't the air being "funnelled" into the filter be better than just letting the air "flow" into the filter? Just throwing out a question, and I know someone has the answer to prove me wrong =]

Thanks

The big problem is that there isn't enough pressure there to cause a cold air intake that you're thinking it is. If you watch a laser in a wind tunnel that area near the headlight causes a backwash so to speak of air. In the end it offers no resistance and no pressure for the intake. If you remove the can though it opens the small 2" opening that has to suck air through a tube into a much wider and free flowing system. The cons of this though is that the air is now coming from under the hood which is hotter from the rad and exhaust manifold. If you really wanted to get a cold air intake you would have to run some piping to the front of the car near the rad.

Hello again.

I made a "Air Intake System" for my car. Basicly it does brings in cold air (Ram Air) around the air filter when the car is in motion. http://www.lks.net/~ghislisa/DSMMod.htm

I guess somebody (don't remember who) has made one that brings cold air up to the aircan (Uncut). That is not a bad idea.

Hope this helps.

Ghislain.

I'm not sure about the 90-91's but, on my 92 the area behind the headlight can easily be cut out to open the air inlet to a larger opening. There is also a panel that you can remove on the 92-94's. Usually when I go go to the track I take out my headlight as well, doesn't make a big difference, but it can't hurt.

In the future I will be constructing a box, that is open only to the front area behind of the headlight and forcing the air passing through to enter the filter. I have visualized this but never put anything together yet, we'll see. If I make it, I'll take pictures and will post them for all.

I have also thought about cutting a large hole from where the resonator is and bringing some sort of a tube from behind the foglight area, someone has done this already somewhere I've seen pictures... I would probably hook this part into the box I create as well.

Done it got the T-Shirt.

Have a look at this page of mine. http://www.lks.net/~ghislisa/DSMMod.htm

It's not the perfect system as warm air is inhaled when the car is at a stop light.

BTW, how about if you make a fiberglass adapter that brings cold air from your removed headlight area dirrectly to the cut can (frontal cut)???

That's exactly what I was talking about. Someday I'll do it.
