Hi all! I'm new to this board. I know I'm not from here but there arent many nt guys/gals around here and I need some advice. I'm looking to get a new intake for X-mas and I was wondering what you guys would suggest? I have the 1.8 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Automatic. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank You! ------------------ '91 Eclipse GS My Car Page

hi Cyndi. The best thing you can do/get is buy a K&N air filter and remove the silencer .I also drilled 5 1" holes in my air can to allow for more air flow..I have made a couple home made intake pipes for my car (nobody makes one yet for the 1G N/T)but they have both fallen apart or looked like sh!#. I am thinkin of having an intake pipe made out of 3" stainless .

I would be interested in a SS or Aluminium Intake Pipe.

Yes WeaponR makes one for the 2.0L NT and I'm pretty sure it would fit the 1.8L.
One of my co-worker has a 1G 1.8L so I'll have a look at it and post back in here.

Steve, No I don't have any intake on my car just the hacked air can. Is your friend the guy you were talking about that does the life time warrenty on ehausts? We could order a 3" pipe with a 90 or 180 degree bend in it from anywhere (mandrel bent) and cut it where we want to. I'm pretty sure a 180 bend will be enough for both our cars!!! I think my car only needs 2 45 bends....ant the 3" straight pipe we could get from anywhere. We just need someone to weld it for us. ------------------ 91 Eagle Talon TSi AWD

Just get a press bent 3" from a muffler shop. Anything is better than the stock rubber thing. The best thing would be to do a remote battery and move the MAS to the throttle body separated by a foot of steel or aluminum pipe. The NT engine bay is cool enough that you don't have to worry about heat in the battery area of the bay. ------------------ Michael Hamilton 1990 AWD Talon ICQ: 2422195 pager: 416-547-7028

You could put a scoop in the hood...it may not look bad you would have 2 humps!!! But this is not an option for the turbo guys. Michael, Yea I guess press bent wouldn't be that bad and it would be cheaper. I'm still decicding on which I want to try...Pay money for a steel pipe or try to make the pvc intake. The stainless one would definately look better ------------------ 91 Eagle Talon TSi AWD

Ok, I looked at my co-worker's car last night.
I'd say you "could probably" put the 2.0L Intake tube from Weapon R on your 1.8L.
You would probably need to do some very small adjustement in order to put it on.
Might have to reposition (pivot it a few deg counterclockwise) the airbox or just to buy a 2.0L Airbox. You would have to make sure you get the one from the early 1991 Laser or later 1991 Talon (Think it's june) as there is a small difference between both Air Intake systems. Your best bet would be to get one from a 92 on...
You might also have to relocate the Cruise Control Throttle Cables if you car sports that option.
Other than that I'm pretty sure you could use tha Wewapon R Intake Tube on your 1.8L
Hope this helps.
BTW; Have you checked how muck that Weapon R System goe$ for???

Air flow at the throttle body small??? You have air from all over the engine bay that comes from the bottom of the car. You just need a 6" pipe before the throttle body so you don't disrupt the MAS meter. This will also give you the best throttle response since the volume between the valves and the MAS is small and readings are more instantaneous. ------------------ Michael Hamilton 1990 AWD Talon ICQ: 2422195 pager: 416-547-7028
