A 90,000 km maintenace is coming up for my 95 ESi and I'm, wondering about 2 things that could or should get fixed?

1. a slight Head Gasket Leak. Normally I've heard "If it doesn't give you trouble don't fix it" But I'm thinking of a TurboGs.com Stage 1 kit soon .. so I wonder if it would be beneficial that I got that fixed beforehand.

2. Timing Belt has to be changed ... should the water pump also be changed too .. ???

I suggest you tackle the head gasket leak before it costs you the motor - and it would definitely be beneficial for you to do that since you're getting that kit soon. It would do nothing but prevent disaster. wink

As for the water pump getting changed, it's usually a good idea to change it along with the TB. There are many other things to look at when changing the TB, so I suggest reading the Visual Frequently Asked Questions and figure out what would be best for you.

Good luck!

Your engine is a chrylser 420 A

might have different things to be looked after compared to the 4g63 that most of us are familiar with.

for example are you sure that the 420A has the waterpump behind the belt?

does it have a Balance shaft belt?

As far as I know your timing belt is on the passenger side(or am I wrong?) and has a better clearance

Good Luck
Amin

I'd say yes for both questions.

First thing to do is to make sure the Engine is in good running condition. Fresh Belt and WaterPump will give you a good peice of mind and Fresh Head Gasket is a must.

Make sure you get the Head resurfaced before you slap it back on. A little Cleaning/Porting could be done as the Head will be off.

One last thing; Do a Compression Test before you pull the Head off. That way you'll know if you need to replace the Pistons Rings. The odds are that you won't.

Hope this helps.

Ghislain.
