Couldnt really find the right spot to poost this. Just something im curious about, figured you guys here could help. Sorry if this isnt really the place to post this.

I'm just wondering how many people here work in the business and have actually taken their apprenticeship? Ive been looking to get a job at a dealership so i can hopefully take my apprenticeship, but without any kind of certification, its really hard. Does anyone have any tips or experience to share?

I took what is called pre-employment, here in sask. It is basically 1st and 2nd year, but more indepth. It is 10 monthes long, then I got a job. I have been at the Hyundai dealership almost 2 years now. I have 1/2 my hours need for journeyman already. I am going back for 3rd year schooling sometime this winter, or next spring. Two monthes for 3rd year, then 2 monthes for 4th year and another ~2 years of working and I will be able to write my j/m test.

Getting into a dealership without prior work experience or school is a bit harder, you might have to look around a bit, to find the one shop that is hiring an oil change guy or something like that.
