Has anyone ever put a 90-91 bumper cover on a 92-94?

I'm not sure, but from looking at pictures, it looks like the 90-91's are flat all the way across, whereas the 92-94's have the raised section between the headlights. I'm not too worried about that, I don't think it would be too hard to cut it off my bumper and attach it to an earlier one.

Are there any other fitment issues? I'd think they'd be pretty much the same since it's the same chassis, right?

If you're doing the front of the car, you need to replace the bumper cover, the headlights, and the fenders.

The back of the car requires the complete tail light assembly and the bumper cover.

Oh, I see what you mean with the fenders and lights since the turn signals go back so much farther on the 1.1g's and the bumper cover dips down a bit for the lights on the 1.2g's. I'd have to get a new hood too if I got new lights, wouldn't I?

The 1.1g cover wouldn't fit under my lights then, huh.

I just like that bumper better for some reason.

Might be possible still. These guys say you can fit the 92-94 bumper to the 90-91 http://www.andysautosport.com/eagle/90_94talon.html, so you could probly do a hack job and go the other way if you REALLY wanted. You'd have to figure something out about the center piece. You might wanna try talking to Andy's, they might give you some tips if they're not asses and try to force their kit on you. Shops do that a lot rather than answer simple technical questions bitch

Quote from Andy's:

>>>
*The Dragon Z kit can fit a 90-91 with a slight modification to the front bumper. Since there are pop-up headlights on the 90-91, the front bumper needs to be changed to accommodate the headlight scheme for those years. There is a tab at the top of the Dragon Z front bumper that simply needs to be trimmed for it to fit up on a 90-91 like it would for a 92-94. This can be done easily with a cutoff wheel or any other type of sharp cutting tool. Other than that, the body lines are the same for all cars in the 90-94 generation, so everything else fits up the same.
>>>

Now it's up to you to figure out what to do about the missing center piece on a 90-91 bumper.

Why can't we call this section something along the lines of 'Esthetics or Appearance Tech' or at least include something about that in the forum description. I think it's misleading as it sits now.
I wouldn't call myself a 'rice-boy' because I'm asking about a bumper swap, maybe if I encrusted it with diamonds or something.

-Edit-
Thanks for the support Ronnie, that's what I think too. I hear it won't be that difficult to swap the centre tab, but it remains to be seen. Something for me to work on when it rains.

On my AWD I swapped the front end to the 92-94 style. I kept the 90 style bumper. I can tell you that it's not just the centre "grill" section that's different. The portion of the bumper under the headlights is different and, most especially, the area on the side under the side marker lights is different. If you really want to do it, it can be done (after all, I did it), but it's not a 15 min job.

Hey Paul, can you fill me in with the basics of what you did? Just send me an IM or something.

What about if I were to get two 1g covers, 1 of each and then cut the tops off and fiberglass the 92-94 upper part to the 90-91 lower part. I'm thinking of cutting it pretty much right under the lights/fenders/centre tab thereby getting rid of any fitment issues.

I didn't actually do what you describe, but if I had to do it over again, that's probably the route I'd take. The challenging part of the procedure is that the 90-style bumper has more or less a 90 degree curve at the corners, whereas the 92-style has a much more gradual curve. The challenge is to fabricate some sort of transition between the two styles. The above description becomes much more apparent when you see the two styles side by side.

If you have to go through all that trouble, and two bumpers(!), consider an aftermarket bumper. a 90-91 alone is gonna set you back 200 bucks from a junk yard. Good luck getting one off a member. No one had one when I was looking.
