brought it into valenca autobody. they work on showcars and gave me a decent price.

he's done some great work on the usual show car rice machines as well as porsches, bimmers, audi's etc.

i'll take some pictures of the before and after.

heh, my first question to him was, how much do you like bondo, reply: we don't use cheese in this shop good day.

:]

If they are just using metal its not cheap than. Ive never seen a body shop not use some sort of filler.I know cause thats what I do. Factory cars come with body filler so its not that bad a thing.

He didn't ask for cheap. He asked for good.

Why would a factory car use body filler? Where does a factory car use filler?

Valenca Auto Body builds show cars and does insurance work for Ferraris and the like. Filler is evil. When doing straight factory work, that does not require custom work or mods, filler shouldn't be needed, right?

I'm asking, not telling BTW.

Factories use body filler to fill seams on some cars such as where the roof meets the body and and some times other places. Body filler is'nt evil its the person thats appling the filler and gets lazy and uses to much they're evil.

to touch on what kenin was saying, theres a common misconception that body filler is bad, this is mainly because most hack bodyshops use body filler to fill in huge rust spots, dents, and as a cheap substitute to changing a panel, some rip off body guys call bondo "quarter panel in a can"...
Bondo wasnt meant to be used any thicker then 1/4 inch to fill in minor defects, most real body shops put on less then that, then sand off half of it...

sorry, when he said 'we don't use cheese' he meant they don't fill entire dents and holes with bondo. all shops say that, but a lot of them don't mean it (bastards). Luis at Valenca has a good reputation and offered to let me watch him working. There was almost no bondo used on my big ass dent.

bondo isn't allowed within 1000 ft of show cars, ferraris, etc. they get lead filler.

They get the meatl as straight as possible by hand (hammer) and then use build primer to build up the surface and then they sand that down smooth. Build primer is expensive but more stable than filler.
