I have heard that Maaco quality is sub par, but my question is:
Are they really that bad?
I am looking for more than just a "Dude, Maaco sux" kind of answer.
Is it the quality of the paint? not enough time put into masking/prepping the car? paint drips? orange peeling? what makes them the 'paint shop to avoid'?

I would like to give my car a fresh appearance, but given it's age, I am not sure if I can justify a $2500+ paint job.

Thanks!

I want an RS4.

Depends on the Maaco i guess. My good friend from high school manage's the Maaco in Richmondhill . They can get you a 500 dollar job or a 4000 dollar job.
They do custom work as well and have done many show cars with custom fab work and more. The saying "you get what you paid for " stands. My car is at www.johnsunique.ca right now getting painted as well. Went there cause Radim had hook ups. smile

You do get what you pay for and a good paint job involves a fair bit o labour and skill. A Maaco shop doesnt have to do crap work it just depends on the owner and staff. The only way to know is to ask questions, see pics of other work and get referrals.

Over the years the paint and body shops I have dealt with it came down to the owner or manager. Dont take the car until its done right checking for overspray, use of flex additives, replacing trim properly with adhesive or bolts/screws, guarantee/warranty. If the shop has a bunch of certificates from insurance co's as a preferred shop then they MAY be a low cost=lower quality shop.

Thomas when you are in getting your car painted you may want to tell the owner to fix the spelling mistakes on his website "Fasilities", "Countact Us" wink

Every day I beat my own previous record for number of consecutive days I've stayed alive.

Almost any shop will give you a "1000$ job" if thats what you want. Just dont bitch when you get a 1000$ job.
But if your not going to do it right dont do it!
