The input is for a CD player or actually anything with a line out but it also works fine with your headphone jack and a dual male connector. Line out signal is not controlled by volume control so for this setup just start with it turned down and find a good level. Cheap and easy way to get MP3 capability for a stock stereo with eq. Every day I beat my own previous record for number of consecutive days I've stayed alive.
