Ok I've painted a few cars in my lifetime, and they never seem to turn out nice... they look dull and when the light hits it it looks like crap.

I've tried changing paints, gone from many different brands... and I just can't seem to figure it out. I painted the bottom half o fmy laser black again, because the last paint went to crap... so I used a better black and it looks nice, but the problem is it has NO reflection. The car looks almost like a mild gloss... how do you get a reflection in the paint? Like the original paint.

Because my white paint on my car has gone for the worse, and I want to paint my entire car a dark grey/gunmetal with a nice polish look to it, I don't want another flat black, crap car paint LOL... so if anyone has any experience making a shiney looking paintjob post or PM me... I need help thanks.

Im no expert, but I BELEIVE you must wet sand the paint to get the shine. This happened on one of my cars. One of the panels didnt shine when it came back from paint. They just sanded it and...BAM like new.

Myslef, I did nothing after, it was only wet sanded. It had zero shine to it before, and had a mirror like finish after. But as I say, this was a shop doing it, not myself.

I'm going to ask a pretty stupid question but you did use a 2-stage paint? Base, then clear?

This is what I understand: Generally speaking, after filling, sanding and priming, you put few coats of the colour. You may or may not wet sand the last coat to even out the surface. Then you put a clear coat.

After all the paint coats are done, you wet sand it from fine to the finest paper you got. Then more "sanding" happens when you use a polishing compound. At this point you see shine. Finally, you apply wax to protect the paint.

Correct me if I am wrong.
