Is there a visible difference between 17" and 18" rims / tires?
Has anyone actually tested this on the quarter mile?

Has anyone actually tested this on the quarter mile? I was referring more to the torque : acceleration ratio, thats why this was in the General Technical Discussions

Ok, well then you need to explain your question a bit more.
Heavier rims will slow you down (unsprung, rotational weight), but as long as the rolling diameter stays the same, it will have no impact on performance (aside from weight)
Now if you were to change the rolling diameter you could improve top speed (larger diameter) or acceleration (smaller diameter).
