I was the first one to look at it, and after the test drive I told the guy I'll take it. I told him I'd get the money order the next day, and he told me that if someone shows up with money, it's gone. I argued with him a bit, and he finally agreed that it's sold. All this time his phon kept going off, with people calling to see the car. We shook our hands, and I left to try and see if the bank is still open. While at a bank, he calls me and tells me that some people just offered him $7500, but he told them it's already sold. I got the money the same day, and took it home. I kind of fluked it, cause he could have easily sold it for more.

Thanks all. It's so nice to drive a car that's so smooth, the handling is amazing. It's better than my Talon. I honestly like driving it more than the Talon, even though it's a bit under powered. No creeks, no vibrations, no roughness. And guess what? The WRX engine drops right in! Ya right, this car will remain in it's original form.

I hear ya about the smoothness. Sometimes I get sick of all the crashing and banging around in my car.
Nice buy man, that car looks great.

I have a question about insurance for you guys. Should I go with full coverage? I don't know, cause the car is not that new and it was kind of cheap. I can afford full coverage, but I just don't know if it's worth it?

Bah, just wait for the intoxicating effects of that new car scent to wear off Re insurance... If you're a good (careful) driver in the first place, collision is only going to pay off if your car is hit while you aren't around. And if your premiums were to go up after the claim, it may still not be worth it.

So much for a good deal, I suspect, correction, I am pretty sure the car has a blown head gasket. That would explain why the seller did not want me to take it on the highway. My wife drives this car most of the time (she is a wussie driver), and I drive it on the weekends. Well yesterday I drove from Toronto to Missy with the A/C on at around 130-140km/h. Once I was getting closer to my friend's house I started to smell coolant, fvck! I stopped at my friend's house and imidiatelly the temp gauge started to climb all the way to H. I shut her off and watched the coolant pouring out of the overflow, while thinking of ways to torture the seller. I did not puke much, and after 5 minutes I drove it again with no problems at all. Drove it home woth no A/C, and at around 110km/h this time, with no over heating. Once I got home, and looked into the overflow, I could see the air bubbling out, but no overheating. I've been driving the car around on and off the highway since, but reasonably slower, with one more incident, but on much smaller scale and no overheating (a little collant overflowed this morning). I am pretty sure the head gasket is gone, since these cars are known for it. The ****ty part is that there are two heads = 2 gaskets. Now, should I sell the car or fix it? It is in mint condition otherwise, and i got it for very cheap.... Does anyone know of Subaru specialists in the GTA? I don't think I'll be getting another Subbie anytime soon.

2 heads = 2 gaskets, but on the plus side, they are not that expensive. The two of them are not much more than 1 DSM head gasket, and less than a metal head gasket. They should be about $50. each

I understand the gaskets aren't expensive, but you have to pull the engine to replace them I've been reading more and more, and it does not look good at all. All these cars are plauged by this problem. Even after the gasket change, they can still blow it again. I've read the dealer wants $2K to do both heads! And to think, my Talon has over 280k on original half-ass tuned engine, and still pulling hard.

Before jumping to conclusions have you tried the basics like replacing the coolant in the car?

I've done enough research to conclude the head gasket. Starting at the collant bubbling in the overflow bottle to overheating, pushing coolant out and finally coolant smells like exhaust gasses, without a doubt head gasket or cracked block/head. I know it the gasket cause it only happens when you push the car for a while. Now, it's already at Subaru, and as usual, while having the engine apart might as well do this, that and the other. The total will be $2200 + tax, would you like some lube with the raping or will you take it in the ass dry? I'll go with the dry option, thank you...I like pain... At least I got the car cheap enough to even it out now. Damn, that 1/3 of the money for a JDM WRX STI swap.
