Does anyone here have Yonaka racing seats installed in their talon?

I'm thinking of purchasing a set and they claim to have universal sliders that fit 95% of todays cars. With my luck the other 5% includes the Talon.

I just wanted to know if in fact they don't fit what sort of modifications need to be done to get them to work.

Are the brackets hard to make Mike?

can't you just bastardize the bottom of the stock seat to make them fit after market seats?

it seems as though a few well placed holes and bolts should do the trick.

The problem is safety. If you just hack some mounts down which aren't engineered to withstand increased forces, as seen in a crash, you could seriously hurt yourself.

But removing the front/rear crash bars are different?

I would do like Tim is suggesting, find proper mounts.

I'll third the find/building proper (ie, not 16 guage ebay specials) mounts thought.

And i'll add a 'take a careful look' at the construction of that seat. I've seen countless cheap knock-off 'racing' seats, that when you peel back the upholstery are in fact wood based, with the metal 'mounts' wood screwed into the base.

I got to see first hand a kid who decided to go it alone and build his own mounts. Pulled out the black and decker, drilled a few spare holes, dumped the clutch and put the seat into the trunk with him still on it. I can't belive he didn't wind up hurt, or write off the car.

My friend did the same thing in his 240...ended up buying brackets and spending around $150 for 2 sets, learned the hard way I guess. If you could find brackets that work and do the job get them, it's not worth to build them. That's what I think at least.

I have a Yonaka Motorsports Intercooler (Harrison Boyce should chime in) and the quality is great. Really nice welds, and just an overall good core. Comparable to Kinetic.

Therefore, I don't see their seats being of lesser quality.

I have Yonaka seats in my 2G, they have custom brackets. They also sit way too high, my head hits the ceiling so i'm going to have to adjust them or make new brackets.

I used to have Sparco seat and it's bracket. It was way too high as well. I'm 5'10" and my head was touching the roof. I ended up asked someone to modified the bracket just to lower it.

Seems like some good quality stuff! I guess the only issue with them is being stated right now.. **Universal** But hey get creative and make it work.. As long as its safe

I had the same problem with high seats in my 2g. Turns out that the chassis has a roughly 12.5" flat span where a seat is, followed by a large upward bend on each side. Basically these aftermarket rails mount on the top of these upward bends. This is due to the fact that on average the sliders on aftermarket seats are about 14" apart so they cant fit in the 12.5" gap. Im actually in the process of finding seats with sliders that fit the gap. This should bring the seat down a good 3 inches.

Seems everyone has the same issue when it comes to height. I'm starting to think twice if it's really worth it to swap out the stock leathers for these racers.

Brackets are simple for yonaka seats in a 1g. I'm not gonna lie though. I'm too lazy to pull a seat out to take a picture for you guys.
