I saw that last week. Looks like in 2009 I'll be running straight meth if this actually goes thru. I'll definatly be using some C16 or VP import this year, maybe the last chance to run it.

I thought the use of leaded fuel was already banned in Canada?

Not completely, and mostly for 'on the road' vehicles.

It's just like our Government. Their hearts are in the right place I guess, but they have absolutely no idea on how to implement things...

My favourite parts would have to be we've heard leaded fuel may be worse then origionally thought, though were not going to look into it. Were not totally banning the use of leaded fuels, just for use in compatition, which makes up 1.5% of the total use. The other 98.5% is aviation fuels, which have a permanent exemption from this bill.

Wow that makes alot of sense to me, typical government annoy

Looks like I better get out to an IHRA event this year, as it may be my last chance.....

Going to bring this one back, not sure if its too late but Toronto Motorsports Park now has a link to a petition against banning leaded race fuel in compatition use on their site. Hopefully can get some more signatures from members on here:

Just Signed it.

Guys if this ban goes through, there is a high possibility that tracks will close down leaving us no where to go.

Lets get some signitures and show the gov't that this is a mistake and would do much more collective harm than good.

Actaully, I find it funny since Canada as a country refuses to Ratify the Kyoto Agreement.

Don't ever expect any government to act in accordance with common sense. I wouldn't expect racing to end, though. It'll just be a touch slower until someone figures out a way around the legislation.

I'm surprised there isn't a stronger call for an outright ban on all forms of automotive (and other) competition. What's the use of it, compared to the dwindling supplies (and rising prices) of oil? It would actually make more sense, even though it would SUCK.
