Adam- Funny you mention that. That thought crossed my mind when I heard there was going ot be an Eclipse tonight.

Dan- I love the Eclipse. I am having a lot of fun with it. I spend most of my day in my car driving given the line of work I do. So I wanted to get something I enjoy. I just can't wait until summer to drop the top. The interior was what really sold me on the car. Funny enough, when I first went to the dealership I was looking at the Lancer GTS but than saw my car in the showroom so it kind of redirected my attention. Than I went home and pondered about the Lancer and somehow went back for the Eclipse the next day. The test drive made it a fairly easy decision. Originally I was looking for something cheap on gas but I couldn't resist. And I am actually amazed at the mileage I am getting with this car.

I'd take either one. But i dont want to die yet. Im leaning on getting a 250 or 500 ninja. Cheaper on insurance laugh .

What's with this 'don't want to die yet' stuff? You don't HAVE to crack the throttle wide open! REALLY. You don't! And as for the 'need to buy for insurance' stuff, it's like not getting a TSi in favour of the ES. Sure, you'll save a little money. But you can't put a value on the erosion of your soul...

A 600 is a good size. Fairly economical, with just enough power to get you into trouble. Anything more is just gravy. The guy I bought my minihome from showed me his baby, a $24k Ninja 13 or 1400 (or something, it was the biggest one they made). He told me it was a great bike, but a total waste of money. You just COULDN'T use that much power around our area, without jeopardizing yourself or other people. You always had to be restrained...

I've been on the back of one of those FZRs before and damn...Even with the weight of me on the back, passing cars on the freeway felt like you went into a teleportation device. One second you're behind someone, the next you're 100 feet past them.

I'm too much of a puss for that stuff though. I don't like knowing that I could die any second. I'll stick with mountain bikes.

Its not the bike or the power that scares me. Its the drivers on the road. They have no respect or concern for people on bikes. Thats why I avoid crowded roads like 400 series highways. Ive had my fair share of close calls, and its a piss off, but I love riding a bike.

The thing sure does move. I wouldnt need anything more powerful. But since its older its definately the cheapest form of transportation I own. I can get 40+mpg easily.

Car drivers are actually MUCH better these days than they used to be. When everyone rode 125s and a 250 was considered a big bike, the cars used to HATE being held up by a bike and used to feel we didn't belong on the roads. They would sometimes PURPOSELY try to run you off the road. These days the problem is usually just that the car driver didn't SEE the bike...

Didn't "see" the bike, saw the bike, but chose to ignore it........you choose.

One of the tricks to surviving when sharing the road with cars is to simply stay away from the group; stay out of blindspots, avoid all SUV's and assume that everyone driving is going to do the most selfish thing possible at any given moment.
If you think the fat ass with the grande latte in the black escalade is going to suddenly jump over to your lane without signalling because they are bored of their current lane.....then 95% of the time, he will......if you anticipate this, you'll be fine.

I want an RS4.

There, y'see? You have to assume all that when driving a TRUCK, let alone a motorcycle. Just a better chance they'll bounce off a truck... wink

The bike situation is a tough one. I've been riding since I was a kid and I've learned a thing or two, but nothing more. ALWAYS anticipate the worst possible situation you could be in, know that you're not sharing the road with intelligent drivers in "cages", stay away from blind spots, wear your leathers, have a LOUD pipe, so if they don't see you they hear you, and keep out of the blind spots. I also love to ride with the high beams on in the daytime.

Since I used to race MX and ride Freestyle MX I use another tactic to keep from killing myself. I watch as many crash/death videos as possible before the season starts. During the riding season I like to watch a few to keep it fresh. I also think that "cagers" should be forced to do the very same thing.

Bwahaha! My first thought was that you look like you're going to put everything out on the garage floor, and go *Vroom Vroom* with your pretend 'whip'.

*Laugh* You just look a little 'young' in that pic, Ryan. wink

Glad you got your hood in good shape. Looks like you're going to be sporting some serious bling.
