I've been working on this alone, so my progress has been slow. My body hates me, and the sunburn on my back is brighter than my red shorts!

I'm converting my 2GA talon to a 2GB eclipse.

Work Done So Far:
- Headliner Removed
- Sunroof replaced (old one was broken)
- Front End, complete conversion w/ fog lights
- Rear of talon removed
- Rear lights of eclipse fitted

To Do:
- Install Rear Bumper
- Install Side Skirts
- Figure Out Tail Wiring
- Install Spoiler

Wow, Front end is looking Awesome Eric. Thats my favourite style front end for 2g's. Good work.

Something is off about the back end. Can't quite figure it out. =]

The front end looks much nicer with the fog lights. Where did you get the fog lights and do you have a 97 rear end.

Ryan Laliberte found the fog lights for me from the dsmlink board, I think. Yes, I have the 2gb rear also; the bumper is red, and the spoiler is blue.. so paint is a must.

Looks good man. Is that a rear bumper support or the bumper crash bar?

If its the latter, it looks like plastic.

I almost forgot what 2nd and reverse gear feels like.

Damn you got lucky I have the 2ga rear, and I've been looking for the 2gb rear for months know. Id pay 300 for only the rear bumper if I could find one.

2Gs use fiberglass(?) for the crashbar, where 1Gs are metal I think.

Any ways conversion looks great so far!

Hell yeah man...looks good. Sorry I'm not able to be there to give you a hand. I know an extra set of hands is always a good thing, I did mine solo as well. I love the multi colour though man, it brings me back to when my rear was maroon, front end was primer and the rest was just black.

Looks like its coming along nice!

oh and by the way, sorry I missed that call, I was working all day.

Looks great Eric!

Are you going to install a 3rd brake light when you install the Eclipse spoiler?

I've been having a really hard time getting a 3rd brake light, but i do intend to install one, even if i have to fab one up myself.

Yes, the steering wheel was the first thing to change out.

She is indeed an NT.. I already built the engine as much as I am going, next focus is for custom sub box.

And lastly, lol, the paint place I have picked out is a place called "Loyalist Autobody" in Picton. He's charging me roughly $1500 for the entire car, and I've seen his work so I can trust him.

If you can have him prep and paint the front/rear bumper off the car, then install. No matter how good he will never get the paint into the seam to get it looking the best that it could.

That's what he said he'd end up doing.. so when time comes for the car to go in, I'll be removing the necessary panels etc.

does the 1500 include sanding the car down? Is there any warranty on fading or pealing? I may be interested in his contact info if he is good.

I already asked Eric that. He said the guy is doing all the prep work himself. =] Wondering on what price he'd do it for if I primer and prep myself. =]

The guy runs a single person shop, with little overhead. That's why he can do it so cheap. I'll let you know about how he warranties his stuff when I find out for sure.

Could you ask if we prep cars if he'll be even nicer? if so he might have a car later on this summer. For now I want it running good before I paint. Not so worried about show.

Well, went in for a more accurate paint estimate than over the phone, and it's way different frown

I am still doing to get it painted at the same place, since the price is still "relatively" right.

He said that since painting a black car sucks (basically), it's more expensive. He ran me through why;my car is full of little dents that dont look so bad now, but after a nice clear coat will show up. He's going to skip working on the hood, and just buy a new one for it. Lastly, the side skirts and spoiler, not a lot of work there, but he's going to paint the body where they go, then mount the skirts, then paint again. Same with the wing.

Anyway, tax and all, he is giving me $2450 ish. frown

That's $1000 under the table, then $1300 with tax.

The deal with imperfections: "After the car is back in your hands, if you see something you dont like just bring it back to me and I will fix it."

May 12 she goes in.

Ouch. I wouldn't spend that much on paint. I would rather rattle can. =[

that being said, rattle can isn't professional

However, due to the price I might have to wait til I come back from my 3 months of course.. wouldn't be a bad idea anyway, since its just going to sit idle in a parking lot for most of the 3 months anyway. That wouldnt do my new paint any justice at all.

lol, I still wouldn't rattle can it. Just didn't think paint prices cost that much.

Yeah, leaving it with new paint in a parking lot is just asking for someone to back into it =[ Wouldn't be fun to come home to that after 3 months.

Yeah, the other quotes I've received start at $3000.. so this is still the best I've seen so far.

And he's doing "base coat clear coat".. which I am told is the way to go.
