OK, I finally broke down and did it.

I bought a daily driver.

THAT means, I can finally put the longblock that's been in my garage for months in the car.

I'm going to take some time and go over the whole car though. Clean things up... finally put in that rear bushing kit I've had hanging in the garage for 3 years...

It's coming off the Road June 9th. I've got the weekend of June 1st, or the weekend of June 8th to run my best time ever.

If I have to, I'll use my CAA membership to get home.

86 00 97 8B wink

Anyone want to do some T&T either of those weekends? (The weekend of the 8th works better for me, but I'll take what I can get).

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

If I get this fracking knock issue out of the way and the car put back together, I may rip down there to run a few passes.

I might be in. I am going to get my Talon out of storage and do some tuning on it the weekend after next. So I might be up to coming out if something goes down on the 8th. Steve are you thinking Cayuga?

I might try to make it out to that providing there are no issues with my car and it's on the weekend of the 8th.

Hey Ryan, if I come up, can I crash at your place Saturday night? Long ass drive home from the races.

You are welcome to crash here. Right now its really up in the air as to whether I will be able to make it out to this or not. Even if I can't make it and I am in town that weekend you are still welcome to crash here. Or if I don't have the car ready I will just catch a ride down there with you to spectate if you have an open seat.

Looks like their running other events on those days, so do you think you'll get many runs in? (especially at CSCS on the 1st?) I'd like to try the new DR's, once I get the miss under full boost sorted out. I was thinking maybe going to one of the Wed or Fri night events, in the coming weeks.

I'm going to try (no guarantees) to make it out on the 31'st.

Cayuga is only about 5 hours from here.

Didn't notice that Reza, I'd be in then, if I get the car running properly. I did some investigating last night & made some changes. Still have to test it properly but hopefully my issue will be cleared up by then.

Now do I sign up for CAA, how hard are these DR's going to hook....

Just an FYI for everyone, if there a few broken DSM's at the track, CAA will most likely not tow them as it would be pretty obvious that we were racing them.

The last time I broke, CAA told me the tow truck driver was going to check for signs of racing and if he saw any they would not cover the tow. I yanked out the piece of the driveshaft that was still stuck in the t-case, cleaned up the t&t #'s on the car with some meth, and all was good. I told the tow truck driver my t-case leaked out all its fluid wink . I'm pretty sure he knew but just didn't care.

So if there are like 2 or more busted DSM's waiting for a tow in front of the race track.....

That's strange - I got towed out of Cayuga just outside of the gates, and there was a line-up to get the flatbed (I was first in line out of three).
The driver said he's always going between Cayuga and Toronto, driving back the busted race cars.
It might be against the CAA policy, but chances are the tow driver isn't going to waste his time on that technicality. No tow, no pay!

What you have to watch out for is your tow destination. Make sure you end up where you can fix your car. CAA will not even call a tow truck for you if you're being picked up from where you were dropped off the last time.
You can be towed only once for a single break-down incident.

I hope to be out on the 8th too.
The car came apart pretty quickly. If only someone would hide my degreaser, sandpaper, towels and polish, I just might get it back together quick and dirty tongue

Rob, I think they have changed their policy now as this was just about a month ago. Then again the tow truck driver didn't seem to care so much. It was a lady from CAA who called me and told me so, before the flatbed came. He just called back CAA and told her I wasn't on the track.
I have a feeling they are going to start refusing tows now after the first incident on the weekends. Again they can't really prove it so who knows.
After my membership is up this year, I'll be switching to another better service one of my trucker friend uses. Supposedly it costs the same and has a much better package.

Figures.. May 31st means I have to find a sitter if I'm going that day. June 6th has an event as well as T&T, so it'll be a little more busy than usual.

I'll see what I can do for the 31st. If I can't make it, anyone available for a Friday night, or as a last attempt, the 6th?

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Really, anything works good for me. I don't mind if there is an event happening, as long as I can get some good runs in I'm happy.

I can also do a Friday evening, it just means I have to get prepared the night before, and head down to the track right after work.

If I am able to do it, it would be on the weekend of the 8th. Next weekend won't be any good for me as I will just be getting the car out. It will need a good cleaning as well as a good tune along with some other stuff.

Ok, I think I'm going to aim for the 6th. I don't need to get 20 runs in, and it'll give me time to sort out some new stuff.

I'm dumb. Changing things just before it comes off the road..

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Sorry guys, I didn't realize the 6th was the Friday.

I'm ACTUALLY going on the 7th (Sat.)

This is for sure. (ASSuming my car makes it there that day. smile )

I went out on Friday night test n tune and busted the aluminium JDM t-case on the first launch. Drove the car home in FWD. I thought I busted the center diff, but upon tearing apart the tranny when I got home, everything looked perfect. Spun the output shaft and it spun freely with the rear wheels still on the ground, so I knew it was the t-case. Good excuse to swap in the 23 spline output shaft, and throw in a brand new spare steel 23 spline t-case.
Had her up and running the same night smile

I was gonna head out to the CSCS event today, but got caught up with some errands so I couldn't make it, so next weekend it is.

Enjoy the pics!

These are from over a month ago when I busted the u-joint on the driveshaft.

Nice carnage pics Reza, you're probably the only guy I know who destroys T-Cases and Driveshafts, most wreck Diffs and gears.

Nicely done Reza! smile

But I thought it was only the housing on the 22-spline T-Cases that was aluminum. If that's the case, why would switching to a 23 spline steel t-case help?

Also, I'm not sure about Reza, but no wife, no kids also speeds things up quite a bit. I've been staring at the same parts to put on the car since last fall. I would need only a day. I haven't seen that day yet.
