DSMlink is just too easy man, its like walking in a park. You can simply keep everything at stock settings if you don't know how to use it.

The next person who wants to get rid of theirs to keep it more simple, let me know, I'll trade you my chip smile

Yeah, well as soon as my other car sells (Cross fingers, hopefully this weekend) I'm getting DSMLink again and a new power adapter for my laptop.

I would really like to be able to adjust things again. wink

K, NOW I can hear some ticking. It's faint, but it sounds like it's coming from the back of the engine, close to the transmission.

I'm going to get some heavier weight oil tomorrow (20w50) and see what happens with that. I grounded the knock sensor, and I got no knock, so I guess my EPROM ECU is ok.

It sounds like lifter tick, but almost like piston slap.

We'll see tomorrow when I up the weight.

Well, what oil would you all recommend? Maybe I can get a decent amount of miles out of this engine before I have to rebuild.

Just to add, this noise is only where my knock is, it's not constant.

I have 3G lifters on order right now.

That's what I'm using, if you've read the thread, and previous threads prior to this, you'd know I'm fighting phantom knock and need to go to a heavier weight to see if it will fix it.

Ryan, ive been following this thread from your initial post, no where did you say your using 10w30. I was just offerring my opinion.

Your knock issues have nothing to do with the weight of your oil. It might be your extra power gain from relocating the fuse box.

On a serious note I hope you do find the issue.
Try keeping the setup you have and try a stock MAF, instead of your current MAF-T/GM

LOL.. smartass...

No, it's definitely something ticking, I can hear it when I rev the engine. I've got the oil, gonna go change it now.

Edit: And that didn't work either.

Gotta wait for the lifters I guess.

Have you given it serious thought? Maybe you should "cool off" before you start a part out??

That's the thing, I can't just "Swap" the bottom end. I work in a gravel driveway, have no garage, no cherry picker (which you can't use on gravel), and no patience.

I'll wait till tomorrow, but if people start paying, I'll start parting.

have you tried contacting Scott Neville? maybe he will let you use his garage, if he's not gone out west yet. He lives about 10 minutes from you in Trenton.

Last ditch effort.

I'm currently cleaning my lifters from my first 94. Sure they have 350K on them, but we'll see if this works.

Ryan....Don't part it out. DON'T!

I did that with my burgandy talon I had when I jumped timing. I hate myself for it. In the long run yeah cool I have a better condition talon and awd with a 4 bolt =]. But I would have been back on the road a couple years ago. I have been 2 years with out a talon and who knows when this new one will be ready.

The time away from the talon kills me. Take alot of time to think about it atleast. It jumped timing and I was parting it out that weekend. When the person came to take my talon away. Watching it get loaded up on someones trailer honestly killed apart of me inside. If you do really want to part it out. Make sure its what you want though and its not just frustration speaking.

As annoying as it is usually if you can stick it out and fix the issue when you get back to the car and drive it will be so worth it in the end.

I'd do what Reza says. If the 94 ones don't work try the new ones when they get there.

2g awd, Back to dsms here I come.

Nope, it's officially being parted out. I've got a line on a good 2G and I'm tired of working on this one. New lifters didn't work.

Thanks for all the help guys.
