What group buy should we have this year?

Is there anything anyone is interested in that we could buy by the masses and save us all some money, make Andy some money and Ziggy some money (if he's willing).

Anyone have any ideas?

Body parts does seem interesting, just very hard to ship.

We've had some pretty good group buys on here, especially last years with the PR parts.

I don't know about Cam Gears, not many run them.

Clutches is a great idea, so are cams.

What does everyone NEED? Maybe make a list and we'll go from there, see what the greater demand is for.

We have done cams and clutches before. We have also done widebands, and Walbro fuel pumps if I remember correctly. I would not mind doing another buy, though I WOULD like the last few guys to get their vaccuum hoses from me, and I would like the calendars paid for before I tackle another buy, but that doesn't mean we can't start thinking/talking about it.

Slicks, I don't think there would be enough serious interest, and there is SO little money in slicks...I make almost nothing anyways, and when I do a group buy, the savings generally comes out of my profit and the savings on shipping. I don't usually get much of a discount if at all for ordering 10 or 20 of something instead of the 2,3, 5, or possibly 10 that I usually order.

Cam gears...again, not sure there would be enough demand. Did we do a group buy on the clear timing gear covers? I think we did, and I think most people have those by now.

V3? Is that referring to DSM Link V3? I think everyone on here SHOULD know that I won't sell DSM Link, and I won't sell to Helder's fan club either, so not sure why Aaron is making suggestions? Unless he figures Ryan is going to run this?

Intercoolers there is some room in the pricing on Yonaka ones, and we can save a lot by getting a bunch shipped all together. That would be a possibility, but we did do the PR ones already.

I have also been offering a "deal of the week" and a "deal of the month" through my webstore, and those prices are as good as I can do on a group buy also. Like right now, there are AEM Uego on there, AEM digital boost gauge, and No-Name universal mufflers at terrific prices.

Other items I could think of where there could be some savings in doing a group buy:

Mishimoto rads
Devils Own meth kits (Did we do a group buy on these already?)
Megan Racing downpipes and/or strut tower bars? - not a lot of room on the pricing, but could maybe save some on shipping several units at once?

Rads would be an awesome idea.

We did a meth kit group buy 2 years ago, last year it was Punishment Racing.

I'm sure rads would be a big hit, the mishimoto ones are all the rave on the link board, and if we can get fans with them, that's great.

Yonaka makes a great core, I've run one, Reza swears by them, and several on the board have used them before.

What about suspension setups and camber kits? Shipping on these are pretty expensive id imagine, and we could save buying them all together.

I am open to anything. Yonaka also makes a nice rad for the 2g, but they have been back ordered forever. If we are going to do a buy on Mishimoto rads, I am sure we could include the fans and possibly other Mishimoto items...

Brakes aren't a common thing most guys upgrade. Maybe a rotor/pad combo, but I doubt there would be much interest.

Injectors is definitely a possibility, shipping isn't much on them, but I'm sure we could save money if we bought in bulk.

I like the Rad/Fan/Hose idea.

stainless braided brake lines, and stainless clutch lines?

I think anything stock that wears out and is often replaced anyways would have a good turnout for a group buy. Even though I already got a couple good rads laying around, thats a good idea.

Stock.

Id like the brake line ideas. I am just keeping stock single pistons for awhile.

or injectors either or I do plan on upgrading this spring time.

Well, I still have to get the last few vacuum hose kits delivered, and these calendars out of the way. After that, let's wait and see if I am still a member on this board....

What about drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads that are an oem replacement? You could put me down for a set of those.

lets see the downpipe or anything exhaust sounds good to me as that is the next priority before spring, clutches sounds good but im not shure if i have a huge amount of money to be spending when my exhaust is out of the way, rads sounded good, suspension sounded good, what about oil filters? though they are somewhat cheap already...

These are small time items most already have. Not really going to save any money on a big purchase, maybe 2-5 bucks a piece.

Let's narrow it down. Respond with your choice.

Injectors

actually could I use larger injectors on a stock setup to flow fuel better when the day comes for an upgraded turbo? or does that mess with the computer too and require engine management:S
not shure fuel pumps make sense with the injectors?

You don't need a fuel pump with larger injectors, you do need something to control those larger injectors.

You will eventually need a fuel pump.

injectors are cool.

But My main vote would go to brake components seeing as how I NEED them on my car before it hits the roads.

Injectors could wait till next year...Either or I support the one with more votes.

Well, I doubt very much that I will be running any more group buys on this board....

I still have a couple vacuum hose kits sitting here, and I will be finishing off all the calendars we are working on now, and then I am going to try to spend a lot less time on this board. My webstore is making great progress, I already have tons of stuff in there, and more going in almost every day, so I will still be able to service my good and faithful customers, but I don't plan to spend time here just as a member, as it is no longer fun. I also will not likely do any of the things like the calendars, the license plate frames, and the group buys. they are all time consuming, and I think I now need to spend that time elsewhere. I am even thinking about selling my DSM again frown .

We all know DSM's are a dying market. I either need to get back into more industrial machining, or into another vehicle. I can't make a living here. I have just renewed my membership in the Toronto Subaru Club, and am in the process of becoming a registered vendor there. In order to make sales there, I am going to need to spend all my time on that board, so I will be around this one a lot less....

I am not going to disappear, just not going to check this board every day.

It might also be a good idea to get into the habit of contacting me by email rather than pm's, as soon I won't be checking pm's daily either.

thanks again to all of my good and faithful customers and friends!

Think you can give us a round-about price Brian?

For the guys that posted 1000's, not sure if FIC still sells the 1000's but if they do, I'd still choose their new 1050's. They have a better spray pattern & are hand flow matched (& from what I've seen, always flow more). They didn't say it about their own 1000's but they did say its not uncommon for other peoples 1000's to flow less.

FIC doesn't make anything "x80" it's all "X50"

So in that case...

1. Brian
2. Ryan 950cc
3. Derek 750cc
4. Ruben 1000cc
5. Darren 1000cc
6. Steve white bluemax 1550cc

Depending on price as well, I may be interested in a set of 1150's

If I am correct, the group buy is on FIC injectors, so you would be in for 1050's?

If this group buy does go through, I would like to change my order from 1150's to 1050's. The 1150's will be more of a pain in the ass then I want, and the 1050's will still be more than enough for the next few years.

O.k guys I will not be using standar injectors anymore so this injectors arent any good for me.

But I wnet ahead and I got prices for from the company I got my injectors last year.

and this is what they came back with and I quote:

"Just to clarify, some of the sizes are a little different so i put the actual PTE size. These prices all include shipping, everyone can pay individually as well over the phone or through paypal".
1. Brian 750cc (780cc) = $250.00
2. Ryan 950cc (1000cc) = $265.00
3. Derek 750cc (780cc) = $250.00
4. Ruben 1000cc = $265.00
5. Darren 1000cc = $265.00
6. Steve white bluemax 1550cc (1600cc) = $410.00
7. Aaron 950cc (1000cc) = $265.00
8. Garret 1150cc (1200cc) = $275.00
9. Brian Fernandez BlueMax 1150-(1200cc) = $275.00
10. My self: Manuel PTE 1000cc = $265.00

This are price in us shipped to your door, I am not making any money I just though I would help you, I will give this shops contact info and HE will be responsable for the transaction.

Let me know.

Oh by the way they only sell PTE, I never had a problem with them EVER at the dino nor at the track.

US or CAD Manny?

I had PTE 780's and had no problem with them, so I would probably go for a set of 880s this year.

Cool with me. People who havent responded saying go ahead are not included.
Those who said yes are in, and those who said they would rather somethin' else can get something else, I'll post the final price later today after classes when I can call to finalize, Ideally, we should have the money sent to them by the end of Friday...

Hey Brian, whats going on with this? Are we still doing the FIC group buy?

I just want to know if I should hold off on buying the 1050's for the group buy, or just go buy them already.

Can anyone chime in on this? If I don't hear something soon I am just going to go buy my own, I can't wait forever man. All I am asking for is an update.

From My contact at FIC

"I saw your thread on the group buy on club DSM.

I want to point out that I’m sure we can beat the pricing that the PTE dealer is offering.

There is also a significant difference in some of the product you would receive. The “PTE1200” are a disc injector that really flows 1120cc and has a sucky spray pattern (worse than the one on the left in the picture below). This is not a comparable injector to the FIC 1150. I have those injectors too. If someone wants the “1200” (really 1120), I’ll sell them those at a GREAT price.

The PTE1600’s are the old Bosch 150lb injector with it’s associated idle and mid range issue. We used to sell those, but Bosch stopped making them, so we developed the BlueMAX injectors and they turned ou to be a much more tuner-friendly injector. Those 1600’s are nothing like our new BlueMAX injectors.

The PTE 1000’s are exactly the same as our 950’s (and they definitely don’t flow 1000cc). The 1000’s are even more definitely NOT anything like our custom 1050’s (see spray pattern pics below).

I will also provide a flow matching data sheet with each set of the injectors bought on this group buy. Something PTE does not provide."

Comparison
[Linked Image]

My Spreadsheet
[Linked Image]

That being said, I posted that up in hopes maybe someone else would be willing to hop on board. I think this is a pretty hot price, and my guy has been working VERY hard for us the last few weeks!

If everyone would add 5 bucks for shipping that should cover it hopefully, if its too much i'll just disburse cash with the injectors when they get to you... I'm not gaining a cut or anything by doing this, but I do need injectors like some of you..

Email transfer to ilive1@hotmail.com is best, if that doesent work for you I can get a paypal to use..

Cheers,
Brian

Any group buys on the board should have a donation to the board. I'd add another $5 per order for a donation to Andy since it's his servers we're doing this on.

How long is this pricing good for? I would love to get in on this, but I can't pay tomorrow if you know what I mean.

If I were to say "Yes" to a set of FIC 850's ($310CDN at my door), when would I have to pay by to get this offer?

Wow, I defently didn't get the Brian discount when I bought my injectors last year, lol. Those are amazing prices, anyone who needs injectors, I doubt you'll do better. I can say I love the FIC 1050's I purchased last year, I would recommend them 100%!

Sorry I thought I asked for it at the end of my last post, email transfer it to ilive1@hotmail.com, or paypal it to an address I will post in a few minutes with the paypal fees, E-transfer is easiest though!
Once all the money is in, a couple days later we will have the injectors

I'm out for right now. I want to see what I can get the car to do with just a few simple bolt ons (DSMLink, Meth and an exhaust) before I got bigger.

I am all for saving money, but I don't need the injectors right away. If there is those that do then by all means help'em out and order.

Wow that's a long time to be sitting there at the border. Did you call them to see what's up?
