How are the sumos? Never heard of them. I might buy the 18's 225/40/r18 from them for that deal. Comes out to 118 a tire shipping included. Anyone have experience with Sumo?

Sumo or Sumitomo? I remember when people felt about them, Kumho and Nitto the way people talk about the Wanli and Nankang tires now. I'd buy them, but not thinking about pure performance. It's getting the job done on a tight budget, especially if you're just commuting.
I ran Dean Quasars on my Talon for years (no money) and I even autoXed with them. Never felt in danger of my life, but also knew I couldn't corner as well with them as my previous BF/G VR4's.
If you're looking at those numbers 94H is the load rating (94, which is actually pretty high) combined with the speed rating (H). So in your comparison, I'd get the V-rated tires if you could.

I have the NS2 225/40R17 if i remember right, on my gsx, going on the second summer with them after some sprited driving from all last summer. They work very well and I still have 3/4" tread life left, good at high speeds, pretty good cornering for a 40series. I bought mine new from Fai Lee for under $400. I went for a 40series because of the bumps and backroads around here, big difference compared to the 35 or 30series on bumps, which drove me crazy cause the wipers would turn on.
I like the Falken 452 aswell, they had a better/bigger rim protector but they only lasted one summer and they were showing the wear bars, maybe I've setted down a bit behind the wheel. The Falken 912's look like a pretty good choice.

It really depends what you want the tire for. Do you you autoX, or track the car?

I asked him about them over the phone. I may step up and just get the pirelli pzero nero M&S seemed like a better deal (100 dollar rebate) > comes to just about 600 (if I remember correctly) Fai says they are better for the money than the same price range hankooks, and falken 912s. He thinks they ll last longer and Ive read about them, great reviews! But yeah between the 912s and pzeros Im not completely decided yet if the falkens are cheaper. I ll give another testimonial for Fai, definately knows his stuff, very helpfull, and seems to have better prices than many shops in my area!

I have Falken 452's and I have no complaints (nice and predictable, awesome in the rain, don't squeel and don't mind some heat). I autox on them and even used them as warm up tires at shannonville.
I would stay the heck away from the nankang and the like if you are ever going to touch a track.

A lot of people consider Falken to be 'cheap crap'. It all depends on who you ask. They're actually made by Ohtsu in Japan, and they know how to make tires. Their 900 series are the ones to go with, though, or possibly the 452 Brad mentioned. I always liked their 512 (I think) but a LOT of people complain about premature wear. And that goes double for Pirellis. They disappear like melting butter if you drive hard on them, although they do give you stellar handling.

My rule of thumb is to buy up, so if you can get a premium product at a bargain price, then do it. When will you be able to afford to do it again?
The PROBLEM is if a tire blows. Chances are if you have to pay to replace it, you won't have a sale price or rebate to lean on.
