wow didn't know there were so many screw holes in the front end.. look at the firewall .. you should weld some of them shut now that you're doing all the work for items that will probably not get mounted there anymore

it would be a good time to do a manual rack swap now

being a 90, this would be a good time to put a 4 bolt rear in there as opposed the 3 bolt "twig"

long live pop up 90 DSMs laugh

Manual rack swap will be done when the sub frame gets back from powdercoat. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be needing a 4 bolt as i dont plan on putting down that much power. Theres no racing up here so I'm wanting to be able to go fast only if need be.

Ya Ryan, I know you've had a few. I was asking Ian because he said it better be worth it, and I was gonna let him know that he will never have so much fun with a car, and there is nothing else like driving a DSM.

I've had well more than 100 launches with my 3-bolt rear-end, always running more than 450whp!

When we do a 4 bolt swap, everything from the doors back is coming out and being restored.

Pics from tonight:

Cleaned up the interior a bit, painted it with rust protect paint.

Update for tonight.

Seems we were sucking too much power out there and popped a fuse in the house, so we had to call her quits early.

No pics for tonight.

Rear of the interior has been detailed and installed. Working out some electrical gremelins right now when it comes to the signals.

Every light works, but the signals don't, I believe you have to have ignition power do you not?

Anyway, more tomorrow.

Try the hazards. They're supposed to work without a key in.

You have to have it turns to ACC in order to get the signals to work. 4 ways should work without them tho

Yep, and they do work.

You also have to have POWER going to ignition to work.

We hammered out all the wiring today, everything works. Dash is in, rear is in, just the seats, carpet and center console left.

Pics in the morning. It's 1AM and we just stopped, I don't feel like uploading.

Edit: Pics!!

But assuming 30 seconds per post, you've spend about 66 hours just typing replies here. Scary, huh?? laugh

My hats off as well, and I appreciate you guys posting the pictures. Fair to say we all love threads like this, and find them motivational to go work on our own heaps!!

Added pics above.

Here's today's progress.

Got the entire interior in except for a few small pieces as the ECU has yet to go in.

Tested everything, every switch, every light, it all works, except for the auto seatbelts, but we'll take care of that later.

Doors on, battery is in the trunk, tomorrow is to start assembling the firewall and engine bay.

Pics!!

How is that shiftknob? I was thinking of picking one up from ziggy, but not sure if the weight makes much of a difference?

Murtaza, that shift knob weighs A LOT. It's more than expected, but it's beautiful. Haven't really "shifted" gears yet, but it sits a lot lower than the stock 1G knob.

Thanks Will!

We detailed it Joe with some carpet cleaner, I would have liked to have painted it with fabric paint to bring it back to it's original color, but Ian said No.

Pissing rain here for the next little bit, but I got some running around to do anyway.

Should be a fun day.

Today's been a frustrating day.

We haven't done much on the car since we haven't had time. It's 9PM and we've done SQUAT today.

First off it was PISSING rain this morning, and our "garage" was a lake. We spent 2 hours cleaning in there and sucking the water out with a shop vac.

The wind SUCKED today and we spent another 2 hours trying to secure our makeshift garage.

Went to the paint shop today to pick up the fenders and gripe about what a shitty job they did in the engine bay. There were areas that weren't sprayed, huge runs in the paint and overall just a full out shitty job. The owner basically told us to go frack ourselves because "we did a lot of stuff for free on that and I was told just to paint it, no show car, just make it white". Yeah, Colormelt in Sudbury, DON'T go there.

Couldn't find an ECU socket to save our souls, so the chip is being hard soldered on. Took us forever to find someone to do it.

3G Lifters finally showed up today so the head is still at the machine shop.

Got everything back from powdercoat and all four subframe bushings had to be burnt out, so we have no subframe bushings. We are having some solid plastic ones made (harder than plastic, same stuff they use in bushings essentially). Hopefully that turns out well. The front motor mount was only supposed to be blasted because we have the inserts, and he cut out the center of it and powdercoated it. It looks good, but now we have no front roll stop. Luckily we have Prothane mounts, so a front roll stop not being there isn't as big an issue.

A few good things did happen today.

Jamie Loo sent out a brand new 1G OEM rad and 2 fans, that should be here tomorrow (hopefully).
We are filling in some bolt holes in the engine bay, since we essentially have to repaint it.
Powdercoat looks AWESOME.

Today was very frustrating, we're going to be up late since we are VERY far behind now.

Will this motor fire up on Monday? Will we get it on it's wheels?

Stay tuned........

Did they use base/clear or single layer/epoxy in the engine bay?
