Hopped in the car today at work, put it in gear and got a loud clicky/bangy sound. All gears still engage fine. I took it home and put her on 4 jack stands and started rotating things...results:
If I rotate a rear wheel forwards(in neutral) the other rear will start spinning backwards then sort of stop and then move back some more and then a little forwards then stop (seems to depend how vigourously I spin)...front wheels spin forwards.
From what I have read this mean the rear diff is toast (LSD). Is that correct? Also when I put it in drive there is still the clicky bany sound which sounds like it is coming from the tranny. Did I take something else out too?

According to the factory shop manual, the driveshaft must be disconnected when checking the rear diff. Once the drive shaft disconnected, if both wheels turn in same direction then LSD is good, but if one wheel turns opposite then LSD is shot.
That said, I don't think your rear LSD is the problem. It sounds like the center diff spider gears. But that is just a guess based on the info you provided. Anymore info you can provide?

I'm going to start removing things tonight so I will update more. I think I have multiple problems drivetrain-wise...stupid sharp right hand turn autox start blocks!

It is constant when ever I have even slight power applied, even in a straight line. Start taking bets...

OK update... I disconnected the drive shaft and now the rear diff seems to work like it is supposed to so I'm moving up the drivetrain. Transfer case is off and seems nice and smooth. Tranny oil had a little bit of shavings in it but didn't look that bad, no big pieces.

Update. Got tranny out and apart and voila I stripped 2 and a half gear teeth off of one of the gears (haven't figured out which one it is yet, its the second one in on the input shaft I think). So now I have to rebuild/get a new one.
On a positive note the teeth found there way away from the gears so it doesn't look like there was a lot of extra damage.
