Getting everything lined up to do a 14B install in my car. Want to see what I should replace when doing the swap. Of course all the gaskets will be changed. Using all AN oil lines, likely replace the water lines for safety too.

Anything else I'm missing?
I'm going to feed it from the OFH like the T25, I'm thinking about adding an inline filter on the SS line, good idea?

Also would 15psi on the stock 2G fuel system (rewired pump) be too taxing?

15 should be ok, I wouldn't go any higher without upgrading your fuel system though.

You MAY need new bolts/studs if you snap any. Use lots of PBBlaster, WD-40, etc. and be patient with each nut and bolt.

Thanks Ju!

I plan to pick up a case of PB Blaster and a MAPP torch.
Since I'll be using a complete new exhaust from the manifold back, I could just remove it all (turbo, manifold and O2 housing) as one piece to save me head aches.

Some people may find this dumb, but I find when doing the turbo or o2 housing bolts, if you get the car nice and hot, then wrap your hands in some old clothes, and loosen the bolts while hot they come out soooo much easier

Another tip, spray all the bolts you want loose with PB. Then warm the engine. Spray it again. And again. Run the car again. And Spray it again.

It sounds overkill but i havent had a problem doing this when i swapped in my 2G mani and other stuff.

I almost forgot what 2nd and reverse gear feels like.

Bahh, I've always gone for a nice 20 minute drive or so (with some heavy boosting wink ) and as soon as I got home, leave the engine running, pop the hood and crack those 4 turbo bolts loose.

I've never had a problem with the head studs.

In saying that, if it were me, I would replace the following (And always have):

Turbo Bolts
Manifold-Head Studs
Exhaust Manifold Gasket
7CM Ziggy Stainless Special Turbo-Manifold Gasket
O2 Housing gasket (Again, Ziggy's Stainless one)

If you're doing AN Lines for the return, be sure to get a straight and a 90 fitting. I find this to be the best combo for fitment and lack of crimpage.

If you really want to go all out, a JMF heatshield would look great too!

Take the time to do the conversion. While you're at it (Since the coolant's been drained) why not pull your Thermostat housing off the head to clean it up. Hell, you can do the same to the water pipe while you're at it! The 2G does not have any gaskets, but uses O-Rings and seals pressed into the housings. A little RTV gets you all sealed up again!

Take the radiator out as well, it will give you more room. Pulling the whole manifold with Turbo and O2 attached is actually a great idea, and will save you a lot of headache.

If you end up taking the nuts off the studs and the studs don't come with the nuts, a simple double-nut removal procedure will get them out. I've done that to every head for years and never had a problem.

Just remember, just because it's not a big FP30XX turbo, doesn't mean you can't take the time to do a nice clean install. wink
