Im looking at paint my calipers. I am just stuck painting them either yellow or red?

My car is 1ga red and black. It's going to have yellow hids. Everyone I know with there 180's 240's or any car really has red calipers. I think the yellow came from me just wanting to be different from everyone else. Trying to picture it, I think the yellow will go with the red quite well... I mean I know its not a ferrari.

Am I crazy or does anyone agree with me that yellow will be half decent. (I want to do them painted before I get them powder coated. plus I want to know for sure I am keeping this brake setup before I powder coat)

The CT ceramic brake paint kits also come in black....
yellow gets covered in brake dust really quick,
But if it's a temp to see what it's like....
Mine was done black calipers and silver caliper brackets

Personally I hate yellow & red together (but thats just me grin ) My vote would be red as well from the choices but if other colours are options, I'd go black wink

yeah the kits come in blue, silver, black, red, yellow. I do plan on keeping the car pretty clean so hopefully it wont be a big issue for brake dust.

I might just try the yellow. Worst case scenario I have to go buy a red kit. Im just thinking the yellow Might be half decent. Maybe get black to do my brackets or just all out yellow. lol =]

Sponsored by Ronald McDonald? I'm not lovin' it.

I'd go with a glossy black. Easy to keep looking nice!
Or match the car's paint.

I vote yellow will look like a hot dog. UHHKK
I had mine done mine black with VHT caliper paint, seeing as stock is not so big and you dont want them to stand out. Then I realized behind a black wheel it looked better than rust but you couldnt tell there were disc brakes back there, and the wheel didnt pop. Went over them with the paint I used to do the bronze lip, looks 9485384 X better. They dont pop a ton and they match my wheel colour combo, and also give the wheel more depth.
Anyways I vote black, because your wheels are silver wink Therefor they wont pop, but they will be visable. Red is overdone, but matches your car. Whichever.

See when I see black calipers its nice. But I just like the red idea way better. =] I think for sure yellow is out. It will be between black and red. Really doubt I will get black though. Unless I do a split second desicion at the shelf.

I recommend the VHT spray can wink Cheaper than the kits from what I remember. Ive had no problems with it, its even on the exhaust mani heat sheild. 1 Can will do all 4.For the front I just unbolted the caliper, removed the disc, put holes through a junk rag, then put the caliper over the rag. The rag will then mask off the hub supension ect, use some tape on the brake lines, and a bunch of plywood, more rags, carboard, tape to make shure there is no overspray. I cant remember the rear so well, but the discs werent coming off, so I took out the brake pads, and shoved rags inside the caliper, and masked the rest of the disc.

The cans were like 6 dollars cheaper. Plus you can do 8 calipers at 4 coats each with the kits. =]

The kits are crap.
I like the vht spray can. I have my calipers done with it in Gold. Just knock off any junk with a wire brush and then paint them.
Be sure to let it dry before you drive or you will have brake dust in the paint.

My calipers are painted on both of my cars, Ryan! Does that make me a ricer?!

tongue

Seriously Jay, I know you've decided against the yellow... thank god. Go red or black. It'll look sharp if you do a good job.

and no haven't found some gaskets yet. I blue siliconed the gasket doesnt sound like its leaking but it wont idle now and I broke a wheel stud now *sigh*

[Linked Image]

This might look a little more like it. But the red pretty much matches the car.
