Haha, lol I have to find some portage pics.. real portage.
The paddles go inside, I usually bring 3.. put the back seats down and there's plenty of room. You can also tie them to the seats in the canoe if you wanna fit 4 people inside.

Hey Dustin, Yes I've done it. It's a FWD though so I have a bit more trunk room than AWD. Some of the people will end up holding some items in their hands and there will be no visibility in the back obviously due to the extremely overloaded trunk The car will also drop an inch or two naturally.. no need for lowering springs. One of the guys was 220lbs, rest 150 and lower. I have a friend who fit 5 people inside but not camping, just driving around.
