With the exception of the last year or two, a bunch of us get together and rent a dragstrip once a year.

This has somehow been named the "Peckerhead Shootout".

It's time to start some planning to try and get it to happen again.

I've already contacted St. Thomas, and we'll need a minimum of 8 people for about $65/car.

Something I want to get out of the way right off the hop: if you sign-up, plan on being on the hook for that $65 even if you can't make it for some reason. If we get over 8 people, and something happens, we can probably overlook it. However, if we get 1 car, or 8 cars showing up, either way I'm on the hook for $520 once we book.

Cars over 8 are charged to me on a "per additional car" basis.

Wed, Sept. 2 is the day we have booked this year. (It HAS to be a week day. It's the only way to get the track to ourselves).

I think the last time I was at a T&T it was $30/car and everyone got about 3 runs in 5 hours.

For $65, I promise you'll get in more runs than you want. The entire track is ours for the day. (10 - 4)

So, who's in? wink

So far we have:

Me
Mark PPG Scheitzbach
Tim G.
Rob G.
Mike C.
Rob S.
Paul P.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

Nope - The minimum is 8 cars, and the price goes up $65/car from there.

Sorry, I meant that the total price goes up $65/car.
So, no matter how many go, it's $65/car.
(Unless Steve works out a deal)

Basically, bring $65, because we can't know for sure how many will show up smile

Rob basically has it.

In order for this thing to not become a big PITA for us to organize, etc, we're keeping it simple:

St. Thomas Dragway, Sept. 2nd (10 - 4)

$65/car, we get the track to ourselves.

That about sums it up...

(Edit: I'm not trying to be a peckerhead here (get it?) but remember, this is something that started out as a small group of us renting a track once a year. It's not that it's grown huge by any means (I think the last time we did it we had about 15 cars?) I'd like to keep the "group of friends" feel to it, but it's been suggested we open it to the ubb.. why not? We don't get a lot of chances to get together as a group for an "event". Bring some cash, have some fun, and watch me beat PPG down the track again.)

It seems like my talons are never running for this event or it snows when I am just about there(snow/Heavy rain)

I might actually have a job. But Talon wont be ready. But I will probably head out in the civic. (maybe)

Crank case pressure got so high it blew the pcv valve right out of the valve cover.

Motor time for me.

just a question or two if someone could fill me in ....will the cars go through an inspection at the track ? also if i bring it uninsured on a trailer would this be alright ? the reason i ask is because my car is currently for sale but i would love to run it a couple of times down the track

Yes it will need to go through tech and yes you can trailer it.
Plates and insurance isn't required.

I'm not making any promises, but in the past the tech inspection has been VERY easy to pass.. (if you know what I mean). They ARE concerned about safety (ie: secure battery) but don't seem to be sticky about other rules (ie: a battery that isn't mounted in the hatch EXACTLY as the rules state it should be..)

I even got asked what # I wanted.
Some people had their helmets checked out.
Just do stuff right.

Yeah they are pretty easy going with the tech.. They mainly check for battery harness... Or nothing at all.

Also, just wondering... Why rent the track? Every time I have been at Sparta I made at least 5-10 runs on a pretty decent day with lots of people there?

There is always an event on the weekends, unless we wait for the snow in late October (no thanks).

I agree that you can easily get ten or more runs on an event/T&T day at St. Thomas - but those runs are all over the place throughout the day and we have to stop for the event which takes precedence.

It's so much better to "own" the whole place for the day grin
You'll see!

//edit
I'll add that they will enforce the helmet rule for 13s or better.
"The Drunk Guy" came and checked my timeslip to make sure my 117 MPH run was not so quick rotflmao

"Why rent the track?"

Why not?

It's a pretty relaxed atmosphere when there's 8-15 of you at the track for the entire day.

5-10 runs is before lunch. wink

It's not JUST about the number of runs. I just enjoy it more than a regular T&T day.
