So do we just show up for this and pay the track? if this is a closed event who do we talk to when we get to the gate ?
I am really excited to go and see what my car will do on pump gas with the new setup.

Yeah, just bring cash to the track with you.

There probably won't be anyone at the "gates" but the gates should be open.

In the past, we've met up at the "rest stop" on the 401 just past where the 401/403 merge. (Won't do much for you Dave, but if there's anyone else...)

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

E-Town trip was good. Defenately not the same as the good old Ohio SO; mainly for the evening party. Track was nice but lacked a little prep. Clean up crew was very much on the ball. Odds are I'll head back to Norwalk next year.

Now back on topic; I still plan to attend. I'll probably leave early in the morning and drive up to St-Tee, do a bunch of runs and drive back home that night.

10 till 4 if I read right and $65 for the "Blow"...

Last question to Steve; Do they sell race gas or is it a "BYORG"???

They MAY have some there (it's been hit/miss in the past) so you may want to bring your own, just in case.

I'm in for sure, but most likely will not run.

I've put enough punishment on my car this summer already with 18psi and OEM clutch. Financially, I'm not ready for a slipping clutch yet.

It was right outside my shop. I have one that looks to be an elantra rad which is too tall so now I'm going to have to mod the mounts

Just so the guys who "might" or "probably" will show up:

If you don't get there with the rest of us, I'm not stopping what I'm doing to collect money from people who decided to "pop in"... ie: you probably won't get to race.

Well why would you have to stop with what your doing ? Cant the people who simply show up a little later just walk up to you and hand you cash ? or is that to much of an issue ?

The "Peckerhead" shootout is an old tradition every year for the "seasoned" veterans, meaning it's a no-bullshit thing. The guys go to race, not deal with petty guys on the side who might show up at the last minute.

You're either IN or your OUT.

Wow.....good to know that memebers on this board view others as "petty"....I actually thought there was a bit of respect for everyone give or take a few differences....almost makes me feel as if im not welcomed...for starters ill be trailering my vehicle and have never gone to the track before ...therefore im expecting some delays but im not going to waste my time trailering down and turned down cause i didnt make it time with the "seasoned" regulars.... :S

Wow... kinda harsh eh Tim? Geez, what did I do to you? Hmph... well everyone's entitled to their opinion, but that was kind of harsh. Sorry if I pissed in your Cherrios, dick.

I'd love to be there if it wasn't for school! frown I was there a couple of years ago, and it's a great time! Hopefully this year you guys can actually race and it doesn't get rained/snowed out!

I didn't mean that the members were "petty"... wrong choice of words. My apologies. laugh

I'll try and clarify what happens at these "events" for you all, so you understand why Steve said what he said. Respect is the very reason Steve said that.

This is a small (less than 20 people) event. There will be MAYBE 2 track staff there, possible only 1. Steve is required to provide payment for all who are racing. The cars that have paid will be tech'd and given a # and a card. Once we are racing, its not that easy to track down the track guy (who is usually in the booth) and get him over to tech another car...

I'm not saying its impossible, but its a PITA for Steve to park the car, go find the track guy, pay him and then go back to racing. If he does that all day, HE won't get to race much. Not the kind of gesture we want to offer as a thank you for organizing the whole thing is it?

Please also understand, this is an event that we normally don't even let go public. We kinda bounce back and forth with it... If for only the reason that we "trust" who we know. We HAVE to pay a certain amount of money no matter WHO shows up. Please understand that there are PLENTY of people on this board who say the want something, but then bail with no explanation. This is NOT that kind of event. We need a commitment. We do NOT make any money on this event, nor do we want to. It's for people who want to have a great day at the track, not for people who aren't serious.

We go to race, not so YOU can race.

Elias, not pointing fingers at you, please come. It's a great time...Just understand what we are doing, that's all

PPG hit the nail on the head.

I understand things happen, however, I am NOT there to "run the gate" as people come in throughout the morning. (Unless of course I break my car on the first couple of runs. wink )

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

For spectators it does not matter correct? The gates will be open for us to just stroll in? wink

I hope to be there as a spectator, and if I can help in any way to "chase down the track guy" or "run the gate", I will gladly help....

What time are we supposed to be there with our cash to avoid being turned away?

I appreciate the offer, Ziggy, but it's not just me. Often there is one guy there to "run" the track. If he has to leave to go tech a car, etc. that doesn't leave anyone there to run the tree.

Last time we were @ St. Thomas for this, we ended up starting a little late anyway.

This is a SMALL "event". Be prepared to get there in the morning with the rest of us, and everything is MUCH easier.

It is my understanding that spectators will be able to just stroll in/out at their leisure. (This is how it was in the past). HOWEVER, I have not confirmed this (I'll try to get clarification tomorrow).

Ryan: This is going to sound harsher than I mean it:

"You're either IN or your OUT. "

Where does that leave you? You were one of the first to jump on board, and the first to back out. I KNOW you have a good reason/priorities, however when I FIRST mentioned this I said I was after a COMMITMENT from everyone who said "yes". I've got no issue with you backing out. I DO have a slight issue with you describing what the "Peckerhead Shootout" is, and who it's for. It's a day at the track for some DSMers who can either show up, or pay for their "spot" if required to make sure someone else doesn't get stuck paying for them.

It's not necessarily for "seasoned veterans" (Honestly, I don't consider myself one). You ARE correct on the "no nonsense" vibe we strive for with this thing when it comes to attendance, but perhaps it could have been stated a little more toned down?

I think it's pretty hipocritical to make a statement like the one above AFTER you yourself have backed out. Again, you have a VERY good reason, and I would have done the same thing. I'd think you would have had an idea that school starting was a possibility when you said you'd go though?

Anyway, like I said, this is going to appear WAY more harsh than I mean it to, and me going on about it this long isn't helping that any.. So, I'm done with it. wink

Now: Is the list I have so far the list? (I want to give them some numbers on Monday) Who's coming to race, and watch me spank Purple Boy with his hugemonstrousstageeleventeen turbo set-up? Or, will he FINALLY find that elusive 3rd gear before he hits the rev limiter to give himself a chance of getting past me?

Yeah, that was my bad, internets are so much harder to express what is meant. Mark said what I meant to say. And hey, I was in, cash ready until I got my notice for school 2.5 weeks ago. I was told I wasn't going until September 2010, and someone didn't reserve their seat, I was next on the list.

Still doesn't give people the right to call me a prick though, THAT was harsh. My intentions were good, just came out the wrong way. We have all had that happen.

Anyway, I hope there's some video of a PPG/Peckerhead matchup so you can end the season with a true victor.

Trust me, I wish I was there.
