I'll post mine cause I don't wanna type too long on my BlackBerry.

I ran a total of 6-11's. Best ET was an 11.70 @120. Best mph was 122 (11.74)

Not as good as it should be, but I'll take it. It was a fabulous day all around.

I'm pretty beat, so I'll keep it short:

Best run of the day was a 12.45. (2 tenths off my personal best..)

Learned some interesting stuff about running with meth/without meth, and I think about my anti-lag/NLTS set-up (I'll know more after some more testing..)

What I'm happiest about though, is I just drove 200km, raced all day, and drove another 200km on my first ever rebuild with almost no hiccups (blew out an exhaust manifold gasket, but that's due to using a cheap part, so I'm not counting it against me wink )

Had a GREAT time today, thanks to everyone who came out.
FWIW: Paul (the guy running the track today) said we were a great bunch of guys, and that we should show up some time on a T&T Friday night. He figured we'd impress a lot of people.

So, again, thanks to everyone for racing, just hanging out, and in general being a good crowd to be around. Hope to see you all again next year!

Also, thanks for all the pics/video you guys are posting!

Oh... and.. umm.. err... congrats, to PPG! (That hurt! wink )

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

While the day was beautiful, my racing was not. After completely re-tuning the beast, I had everything dialed into where I wanted. It wasn't as fast as it felt last year but it was also 15degC warmer. We all know how well turbo cars respond in cold weather... and how they lack their balls in the heat.

Unfortunatley I have been battling a problem with my clutch system. The hydraulic system has a mind of it's own and decides when it FEELS like disengaging the clutch. For instance, on the way back from the track it was fine up until we got into town (2.5 hours into the trip). The problem will be described in a thread one day if I can't figure it out on my own. Sure enough on the video posted by Mike K above, the clutch didn't disengage and as I jammed it into 3rd gear, the dog teeth on the gear shreded to bits and rendered my 3rd gear useless.

Best time of the day was 11.34@129.74MPH. B'eh.

Hello.

What a day. Was defenately nice to meet all of those people and seen some fast cars.

All in all it was probably the best 1/4 mile event that I ever attended. FAK; was the best, period!!! I managed to do 13/14 runs and left around 3p.m. in order to beat the T.O. rush hour; futile attempt... Track was nice but could of benefit from a little "spray"; I'm not saying this in a negative way as it allowed a little wheel spin and probably prevented some breakdown. Track guy was very nice, heck they even managed to feed us.

My best was a "nice" (read puke) 13.2 at 113phm. All of my 60' were about 1.2x. I defenately need to improve; having said that I have no regret as I had a hell of a good time and managed to drive back to Trenton on my own power.

At last; I would like to give a big thanks to Steve for putting out this event. Again; totally amazing. Also thanks to Mark for get'n me some of the finest "Swill" and to Chris for ferrying it to the track for me.

All in all this event should defenately become an annual event. Best $65 I ever spent.

Q16 Rocks; now I have to learn to make the best use out of it!!! Maybe one day when I grow up...

Ghislain.

Excuse Caboose in full effect!

What I did manage to do is tune out the low-gear smoke screen and get 20psi on the street with no knock tu
It seems that every time I go to the track, the car runs amazing for a few months after!
Tuning on the street or dyno is out, so this was definitely money well spent.

Thanks to Steve for putting this together and everyone for making it a great time!

It was a good day for racing and there was a good turnout. The GOBC were in full force minus Andy B. Props to the two guys with the trailered gray 1ga Talon who worked tirelessly through the day to sort out various electrical, mechanical and tuning issues. Good to see Ghis again as he's enjoying semi-retirement. He might well be the first ca.dsm.org member to retire. I'd like to thank Jamal and Reza for their tuning advice. Looks like I'm going to have to freshen up this tired old motor soon as the best I could muster was a 13.4 @ 102 mph, a personal best.

I'm wondering if any of you regular peckerhead shootout attendees are noticing the pattern of warm sunny days at St. Thomas and the cold, rainy, snowy and technically challeged events at Cayuga? I vote to keep the phSO's at ST. Thomas in the future. Thanks to Steve for putting together a fine racing day.

I have to say, what an amazing day that was. Perfect weather, warm enough to enjoy, but not blistering hot. (Sure, the Turbos might have appreciated 10-15C, but it was nice when we weren't running to have a GORGEOUS day to stand around in).

Got there, and the line of Talons, showing up in formation, was beautiful. All colours, styles, years. It was a sight to see. Then, as things geared up, Reza ran two 10.9s back to back, setting the pace early on.

I ran a bike (CBR 1100xx Blackbird): I'd run a previous bike at a Test and Tune (read: I got 4 runs in :P), but this was a big step up. I estimate I made about 45-55 runs (I stopped taking some of my slips when I'd pooched a launch), and ran some great times. I was happy with how the bike ran, with my own performance, with my own learning curve. And it was great to hang out with a bunch of DSMers and have a blast.

But mostly, it was about learning. Hands down, I couldn't have gotten nearly the time on the track if we hadn't done this. I'd have spent an entire year at $20-25 a pop to get that kind of experience, and not gotten nearly the comraderie. It makes me only want to run this type of run, where you buy the track outright.

Paul and the track were great (sometimes a little slow at the lights, but hey, it can't be perfect, and it's probably not the most exciting for them). Couldn't speak more highly of the track and the whole day. Thanks to everyone, it was a *BLAST*.

I was debating for a bit if I should mention anything about this or not. Apparently, I've decided to.

So, the guy that pipes up first about trying to get everyone there at the same time ends up holding us all up for 1/2 an hour by not even calling to let the people he was supposed to meet know he wasn't coming. thanks.

Not that it was a big issue (there were times when the staging lanes were empty, and nobody was running, so it's not like we ran short on time by ANY means). It just goes back to that "respect" thing PPG mentioned shortly after your comment.

If I'm suposed to meet someone at a specific time/place 99% of the time I'm there when, and where I say I'm going to be. (I try to treat others the way I'd like to be treated..) The remaing 1% I at least notify the other person as soon as I can. I realize not everyone is like me though.

Again, it didn't change the outcome of anything, and nobody was bitter about waiting at the rest area for a bit (extra coffee!!). I just hate it when people don't show/call. This is the EXACT reason I was debating to even invite anyone outside my close friends. However, the percentage of "drop outs" was very small, I got to meet a bunch of great people, and had a great time.

Pretty sure we'll run it the same way/place next year.

Just to be clear. Chris and I were late because of Chris :-P
And because I underestimated the time required to make it to the meeting place.

I was quite clear to Elias that I would leave wothout him. I gave him my address and cell #.
He didnt show, didn't call. So we left. But he was NOT the reason we were late.

Oops!! My misunderstanding.

Sorry Elias. I jumped to the conculsion that they were waiting for you to call. If Mark told you that they would leave at a specific time with/without you, I guess the phone call wasn't really necessary.

Again, my apologies.

I was in the truck and trailer with Jamal following behind me. We left at our own time from Markham and didn't plan on meeting anyone anywhere.

Somewhere on the 401, I look over and see Paul P merging onto the highway from timmies sipping on a coffee. Paul gives a salute smile So 2 DSM's cruising , and one on the trailer, cool!

Then about 10 minutes later, I look in the distance and see a trailered 1g, the blinging purple plymouth, Joe Esmama's black 91 right infront of him, and Rob Greer's 1g laser behind him. Awesome, what timing!

I don't know if that was the whole caravan, but a few minutes after that I noticed 2 red 1g's out in the distance, Giz's grey 2g and maybe a few other. Hard to count all the DSM's at that point.

I don't know if that was coordinated, but Jamal and I didn't plan on any stops anywhere and it seems like we just flew into the whole pack of DSM's bit by bit. Nice coincidence smile

Now if only we could do that at all future events, then no one has to stop anywhere wink

Great event Steve. It was nice to meet the few guys I never met before smile

Alright, Have some pics today. Not many as I didn't take as many as my wifey did. Once I get her pics I will have some videos too.

Remember I don't think Im great with a camera. If you want better full quality I can email them to you. Already gave Rob S. His.

Forgive me with Names For I know most of the names. But might mix up Faces, and cars. So I will just post pics. The two cars with the times I believe is Steve and Marks first past together.

You were there Jay?? I didnt realize you were there, too bad i didnt had a chance to meet you (or maybe i did, but im terribly with names so... tongue ).

I still have to upload some of the pics i took. But, between trying to figure out why im blowing my IGN fuse, building a new PC, trying to get my documents for my realtor - i havent had a chance.

I'll upload the pics sometime this weekend.

I almost forgot what 2nd and reverse gear feels like.

Yeah, I think... Think we met at the Rest stop. But I forget with names and Mostly only got first names to mix up tongue I was rocking the green 4 door civic.

Hard to miss me, im a big guy. Believe I was wearing a brown shirt.

Mind you. I don't know for sure. I'll probably be more noticable once I rock my talon. I'll be the other guy who is disabled by fwd.

Did you pull up with Giz at the rest stop?

If that was you - i didnt realize that was you. Hah! I thought it was a friend of Giz that tagged along for the shootout.

I didnt put 2 and 2 together. Hope you get that car back up in no time!

I almost forgot what 2nd and reverse gear feels like.

I just realized I don't have any videos of my car going 11.3@130ish. If anyone has one of the two I managed to get, let me know. I'd like to have it.

Looks like everyone had an amazing time ...my poor planning was the result of me not showing...after renting a truck which I specifically asked had a tow hook I was informed that I was not allowed to tow with the vehicle...I spent my day fighting for my money back and u-haul was not an option at 49.c a km

LOL. They rented you a vehicle with a tow hook, and said you couldn't tow with it!?

Hope you were able to get your money back.

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

On the other hand, when I was putting my car back into normal mode yesterday (changing tires, fixing the boost leak, etc.), I noticed a wire broken on the VPC temp sensor.

I remember when that happened last year, I got stuck right around the mid 11 second range. This time around with a huge boost leak and broken wire at the sensor, I was stuck around the high 10 second range.

Again, not bad at all. I guess the 9:1 compression really made up for the rest of it smile
