Well its about time I fix the infamous 1g passenger side peeling dash board.

Searching around I have read a lot of unsuccessful attempts to get it to stick permanently.

I am pretty sure some heavy duty epoxy will make the foam on the dashboard stick to the metal.

I don't want to mess it up and do it again. Has anyone actually done this successfully and has it holding for a few years now ?
What glue/epoxy did you use ?

I used "Goop" many years ago, say back in '98. It's a glue in a tube. I think they have it at Canadian tire. I rigged up some wood bracing to keep the dash down as the glue hardened. I think that is key.

Is that a special kind of screw?

Anyway, here's a bit more info: http://www.biosafe-inc.com/ag_adhesives.htm

Ok I have some of that goop stuff but have not used it. I used an industrial strength glue made by PL which I found at home depot. Says its used for all kinds of materials indoor and outdoors, and seems a little stronger.

If this doesn't work, I'll give the goop a shot. I have it rigged up with a couple of tennis rackets wedged between the seat and dash. I'll wait a day or two for it to cure.

Ryan, on my old talon I used a couple of screws. Worked well but it did look ugly.

Took off the supports this morning, and it looks like the PL bond has worked well. Dash seems like its holding nice and strong smile

Wait for the heat to get at it. Maybe try leaving the car in the sun?

hmm have you guys tried JB weld? if not how about some urethane used normally to adhere windshields for cars, trucks etc. I use this stuff when I think nothing else will work to adhere items.

I have some if want to try if your stuff doesn't pan out.

If your not falling your not trying hard enough.

GOOP is the bomb. Best glue I have ever used and if you use the automotive formula it takes the heat as well. I have stuff I glued 20 years ago with it that is still holding strong.

I finally got around to fixing my peeling dash in the Laser. I used an attache case wedged between the seat and the dash. I left it there for 4 days. I used GOOP and even though it's real messy it worked great. From me it get's tu tu up.
