since its too bloody cold to work on the cars overwinter without a garage anyways.
Its a good time to start shopping for stuff to do to them it the summer.
So far i have gathered:-
A big 16g turbo
Hks turbo timer
evo 9 fuel pump
Greddy lower intercooler pipe
I will be getting over the following months
660cc injectors
Fmic
Tubular s/s manifold
Tubular s/s o2 housing
rear struts
Carbon fibre hood
Rear adjustable control arms
a 2nd gen maf
and Something to tune it with, dsm link, chipped ecu etc
Add all that together and i should top my original goal of 300hp.

New kindey and liver here. Nothing DSM related.

Now you list looks some good but have a look at this Turbo suggestion. 660 Injectors might me a little small for the suggested Snail. DSMLink/ECMLink would be the way to go to conduct the Orchestra.

Add in a good Clutch; I personaly suggest an ACT 2600 or Fidanza 4.3 and you'd be good for gold.

Link to very interesting Snail;

Hmmm, the winter shopping list eh?

Tux
Cake
Flowers
Hall
Sam's Dress
.....

Yeah.... I'm kinda on hold for DSM Parts this year. We are getting married in 11 months if all goes well, and then buying a house within 1 year of being married.

There is one thing on the shopping list though, and I've got the OK from the Missus.... but that's a secret, and only a select few will know about it. wink

I ran out of injectors with 660's on a 16G
With DSMlink get some 850's/950's and never have to worry about it again, the cost difference will be minimal anyways

PSI doesn't matter, it's Lb/Min you want to look at.

Picture 10psi through a straw, you aren't moving much air.

10psi through a paper towel tube, you're moving a lot more air.

If you go with DSMLink, you can go much larger with the injectors since you will be able to control them and make them idle/drive like stock.

Like other said; we often first think "PSI" but Flow is what we should look at.

With a Big 16G you should be able to flow about 41/42 lb/min at max efficiency. FP magic snail (which is a bolt onif you already have a 14B/16G Turbo) will flow 47 lb/min. All of that "wind" needs to be fed by the right amount of Fuel. 660 would defenately not cut it. Again you have to be able to control these Injectors.

If you ask me I would revise your list like so;

1) B16G, EVO16G or magic FP Snail.
2) 3" Exhaust
3) Rewired 255lph Fuel Pump
4) Between 850 to 1050 Injectors
5) DSMLink
6) Wide Band Sensor (wired into the ECU)
7) GM MAP (wired into the ECU)
8) FMIC with good IC Pipes and a Crushed 1G BOV

Tubular $$ Manifold and o2 Housing are overrated for the power level you are seeking, Carbon Fiber Hook looks good but will take modification money away from your power mod, TT is nice but again money spent for nothing; just get into the habit to let the Engine cool off before you shut it off. 30 sec after a regular drive and a minutes after a spirited drive...

2G MAF would be good as well as porting your Exhaust Manifold and 02 Housing. No need for an AFPR on a 1G.

That should actually yeild a little more than 300hp, now keep in mind that you'll defenately need a new clutch by then.

If you are short in ca$h you could get a Peckerhead Chip to control the larger Injectors. He might have a funky name; but he good!!! He's also in your neck of tha woods!!!

Ghislain.

I disagree. A rewired 255 on a 1g will necessitate an AFPR.

Ghislain, that was a nice turbo find!!! Kirk, if you are short on cash for Ecm link, can also try DSMap.net, it is less costly than link but not as plug and play. I run it and enjoy the standalone power, just another thing to consider.

As for winter projects:
2.4L block
2 meth kits. one for wet compression and second for meth
paint job - white with a bluish tint
Rims and rubber looking at 16" with 225 50 16 drag radials
Second fuel pump
Holset hx35

But before I tackle that finish insulating my garage, add furnace and enjoy cold dark winter days!!! I think I might also buy a seacan for storing my vehicles this winter, anyone else use one?

New rims is all I will likely buy as I've gotta focus on some other things in life first.

However if I can swing it I'd also like:
CF Hood
CF Hatch
Tein Coilovers
JDM VR4 6 bolt, re-sealed and freshened up plus all the goodies to go with it

1) Get the car running again.
2) Dodge Viper

I think I'm not doing this list right, haha.

Ryan, good luck on the wedding, we just had ours two months ago, what a pain in the ass.

No, it won't. Many guys have run (including myself) a rewired 255 on a 1G without an AFPR. You get a slightly richer idle, but the stock FPR will handle it.

The AFPR is recommended, however not a necessity.

I already have the evo 9 fuel pump which if rewired should be fine for 850's correct, instead of the tubular manifolds what would you suggest?

I really can't see why you need 850's when 660's will do for your "modest" 300whp goals. I'm running 660's with a 16g and putting out around 300 whp. Oh yeah, I'm running a chip instead of 'link. At 22 psi with 43.5 base fuel pressure my IDC's are only at 65% with 660's. Kirk, your mod list is overkill for your goals as it is. Just my $.02

Personally I prefer the assurance of fuel pressure control, adjustment, and display with the AFPR but I run a 255HP pump. I'm also using a ported & clipped B16G, with 780cc INJ, eprom chipped, 2Gen MAF, FMIC, Meth-on @ 10psi and the IDC reaches 75-85% @ 22-24psi, so ya I would say that 660cc is just shy of ideal for any 16G.

Winter shopping list includes..

-Different turbo, unsure yet..
-finish putting windows in the house
-insulate my man shack(garage) and put a wood stove in.
-Keep car in hibrination for another year now weep

Don't know if I'll ever drive it again with the conditions of the dirt road I live on now, I'm holding out till they tar chip the road for me ponder

I think it depends a lot on how you are going to control them. I think guys are saying if you are going to spend the money on DSM link, you might as well go big with the injectors, because you CAN control them, and the price difference is minimal, as has been suggested above. You would have the peace of mind of knowing you are not likely to ever need to upgrade injectors again in future.

Other guys are saying 660's SHOULD be enough, and if you are NOT going to spend the money on DSM link, larger injectors could be more difficult to control..

So both are probably true....depends on how you are going to control them.

Yes, you do need an AFPR with the HP, the non-hp you can get away without one.

Go with DSMLink, you won't be disappointed. Even on a stock car you can still suck out 50-70hp with just tuning and a boost controller.

Just got my AEM EMS so I'll be going speed density. I have some FIC 750cc on the way as well as an EVO III 16G. Put in the big ass FMIC and BC 272s last year so I should be able to get 350hp if I can get it all tuned without blowing anything up. smile

Not 100% true. Yes very advisable but I'm currently running a 255HP with stock 2G FPR. No over run at all. I have an in-dash gauge and have tested at idle and with car off/pump running.
I do have an Aeromotive ready to drop in if needed though.

Lets clarify the comfusion and misinfermation in regards to FPR's in this post
190's and standard 255's can run OK in a 1G without an upgraded FPR in a 1G. The 255HP pump WILL overrun the stock FPR and make the car run rich at idle.
The 255HP can run OK in a 2G due to the fact that 2G's use a higher base fuel pressure, most have had success with this application and had no issues with overrun.

In my particular case running a rewired 255 HP pump with a new fuel filter and an AEM fuel rail overran the stock FPR, by about 3psi.

Well I guess you can include 1g automatic turbo cars being able to have a 255hp pump and "run OK" since they also come with stock 43 psi regulators.

I'm ASSuming in your particular case the your 255hp pump, AEM rail and fuel filter overran the stock fpr by 3 psi at idle. Correct?

1G auto's have a 43psi base fuel pressure, well I have learned something today, we all just assumed the OP had a manual trany car.

And yes the overrun was at idle, at boost it was just fine.

My winter shopping list is to save alot more money for an investment that will actually appreciate crazy

So this years list should be pretty small. Thinking maybe DSS aluminum driveshaft, Avid racing engine mounts & maybe a heavy duty rear diff cover. Other then that maybe getting some things coated by Swaintech (FP exhaust mani, turbine housing, O2 housing & downpipe)

My list looks very similar except no parachute and I already have the scatter shield.

I've been hearing a lot of hot things about these new RM race transmissions. Word on the street is that they can hold 1000+AWHP. Confirm or deny?

Well, I just bought my car recently so I'm working on maintenance catch-up right now. Chasing leaks and cleaning it up. I've got plugs/wires, ARP head studs, a bunch of gaskets/seals and bolts sitting at home, a 2g manifold and O2 housing on the way (thanks Jay!) and a timing set and waterpump also on the way. I'm diggin through boxes in the basement for the logger setup and boost gauge I used on my last Talon.

My winter shopping/wish list (should funds allow, baby due in Dec):
Downpipe
Wideband
MBC
EPROM ECU
Ostrich
Chip burner
Transmission that doesn't grind

I'd like to learn to tune before I start modding the thing, as opposed to the last car where I bought it modded and had no idea how to tune it. My plan is to add a fuel pump, injectors and maybe meth to that later next year (and then a clutch when I burn up the stocker) and see what I can do with the 14b. I still haven't decided what my goals are past that stage.

Now that I've babbled on and turned this into an introduce myself/my car post: Hi, I'm Sean!

The RM series race transmissions should be good for anywhere upwards of 600 WHP depending upon the stage. Stage 2 has already been tried and tested with over 600WHP and 9k rpm shifts. Exclusive clientele only and custom one of a kind gear boxes you won't find elsewhere. Definately won't be many of these bad boys floating around wink

Other than building a few custom gear boxes my winter shopping list will be:
CoD Modern Warfare 2 and Halo ODST smile

1G DSM: 1000+ AWHP, 9.2@162.83 MPH
Evo X: 746 AWHP, XR9569S pump gas
