The reason I chose to do this conversion is the backend of the Eclipse is rounder, wider and more full looking .....kinda like Beyonce. lol

And the tail lights, license plate area are more cleaner looking now.

I went from this....

[Linked Image]

To this, having to move the middle bracket up and drilling three new holes for tail light center piece.

[Linked Image]

To rewiring the lights to work with the Talon harness.....NOT a direct plug and play. lol I used this article here to do the wiring. But I discovered a few flaws in his last diagram and wiring scheme that he shows. He eliminates the use of the ground on the chassis harness and says to tape it off which you can't do....you need that. Also his diagram shows to wire solid green to black and then black to solid green when mating the two harnesses together. Obviously it should be green to green and black to black.

[Linked Image]

Rewire inside car the car too. Which works fine as per the article posted.

To the final stage all buttoned up and ready to go.

Steve, did you have your bumper painted or did you find a red one?

Looks good, and I like the boomerang spoiler with the Eclipse rear.

It came in the Eclipse red....but that is way different than Talon red, plus it was in rough shape. Had it painted along with some other pieces for 300 bucks.

Thanks guys, the number one compliment I get on my car is the rims and how they suit the car perfect.

Yeah I've always liked 5 spoke rims that are thick.

What are they?

It really depends.

I love both rear ends, but we can't have 'em both on one car...or can we?

Hrmm.

I think I have the look right now. I also like the look of the 2ga side skirts too.....but these I found first.

Next step is to go wingless or a lip style spoiler like this here

I've been thinking about doing the eclipse back end mod to my 96 2g/6bolt tsi, I have the front end already on. How hard is it?

It's a pretty simple job, just takes patience.

http://www.ca.dsm.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=262800&fpart=1

Is when I did it. The rear lights needed a couple small holes drilled, but that's easy. The bumper needs brackets fabbed up, to mount the bumper. The eclipse one sits a bit higher.

Hey Steve, I think your car's been featured in a bunch of those Youtube DSM tribute videos?

I saw a RED TSI just like yours with what looked like the same wheels.

NICE smile
