Hey guys, After spending the whole summer with the NSX on NA mode the time has come to turbo the damned thing. One of Marco's friends will be making the manifolds and piping for the set up at his shop (he just open), he has an NSX that he has turbo and all I can say is that his work is just as good as Marco's. The weapon of choice is a GT4088R Garrett turbo, managed by an AEM EMS, I have been using the same parts that I used with spike because I know they worked. Suspension, brakes, turbo, ECU are the same I used in my baby.(damn you Bashar);). The hope are for us to have the car ready by the end of march, probably wont happen but we'll see. The reason I went with Rob instead of buying a kit is simple, I dont have 17,000 dollars to buy one overprice piece of crap kit, when we have fabricators in Toronto. The engine has very high millage but excellent compression, we will be looking for 470RWP on 93octane, that is enough for a car that weights 2800lbs(Mine).Next season the engine probably will be built, and then we can look north of 600RWP easy, since everything will be there to take the boost. All 14psi of it LOL ha ha ha!!! I will keep this thread updated, the car will be going in this week, wish me luck guys. Here are pics of the parts pile up I have for now. It looks just like spike`s last winter stash. -Manuel

I get first dibs when Manuel posts this car for sale in May. I saw Robs NSX and he did a great job on his. Runs and sounds great. He seems to know a thing or two about these cars. Can't wait to see your car with all those parts on it.

I'm not the hugest fan of the NSX but those look nice. What's there not to like about them???............Other then their lack of power That wont be a problem anymore.... REX!!! The gold look nice for a couple hours, after a while it gives you an eye sore. I love REX's color combo and the whole car in general I like the front the back the inside everything, but if a GT3RS shows on my driveway Ill dump the NSX LOL (Maybe someday). I have just started on this car, when I am finish with it, it will look meaner and more agressive than Spike and that is something.... Thanks for the comments guys, now go back and those cars ready for this season. -Manuel

Update!! not that you care, LOL. You guys know things never go smooth or straight up right? Well this was no exception. We were ready to start fab'ing the manifold and charge pipes but after Rob (JDM-R shop owner) pulled the stock exhaust there was a bunch of oil everywere, so now the engine has to come down and while we are in there the clutch will be replace and the timing belt and all the gaskets and seals, the engine it self is nice and strong, at least I wont have to shell 15,000 for a new one....for now, LOL. Anyways, here a couple pics of the underneath of the car looked. -Manuel

That's pretty awesome. I'm going to enjoy following this thread, so make sure you update us!
2003-2005 GT3s are quite affordable these days in the US. And with the Canadian dollar expected to pass the US dollar by the summer, you might want to think about it. That's probably when I'll grab my evo.

That's the goal Peter , a well done turbo nsx is worthed good money, so we'll see.
Ian, the valve covers are leaking, the vtec selenoid and we want to check the main too, plus the engine would favor from a nice general clean up, new clutch and water pump.

Hey guys, Its been a while. Here is a load down on whats been happening with the NSX. By the end of march last year Rob had replace Timing belt, water pump, every seal and gasket, and a full once over on the transmission and a 450f/t clutch was installed too. The oil pan was baffled and bunged ready for the turbo, also headers and the whole coolant hose assambly was redone with higer grade hoses, just on like the dsm's I did the SS clutch line upgrade eleminating the reservoir. By then I had run out of money and the season was already here, and I want it track the car so I pulled it out of the shop. Before hitting the track I installed a set of stoptech's and race pads(what a diference), also alot of suspension work has been done, the last thing I did is taking down the rear beem that holds the engine and intall aluminum bushings, so the specs dont get trown of under hard braking, install a newly rebuilt JIC suspension and corner balance the car. The car its AMAZING on the track, its handle beatiful. By the time I end up getting track worthy( for me), I was able to run it three time on the track, but every single time I got more confident and more settle in the car. This winter, Well I had to finished what I started last season, Remember that turbo kits for the NSX go from up to 17,000 bucks, why I dont know, Fortunally a Canadian steped up and make a kit available for about half that price, of course there were some upgrades I had to do to the kit, like SS lines, precision wastegate and of course the 40R. Kit arrive two nights ago and will be installing it as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer. (most pics are from the iPhone sorry) here are a couple pics of what has happened in the last year. engine out: Engine put back together, Transmision out and apart, RPS Clutch, engine and transmision back in, and a look from underneath, Engine bay, Out of the shop, And finally at work, as it seats right now, Pakage arrived, cold side: Hot side: Ill keep you guys up to date on install and tune. -Manuel

Don't worry chris, the cradle will not show. Is design to tuck under nicely, you have to imagine looking at it from underneath, I still like it thoug, it's made of SS and the welds are nice tight. I know what ya sayin' Anthony, I lost ten lbs my self to make I feel nice and snug -Manuel

So the turbo goes under the car, that car is already super low, how much clearance is there going to be?

Hey Jason, you should of came over. The smoke coming from the car was oil left over in the exhaust , from when my scavenge pump got plugged when I was putting the car together. After few more laps the it stopped burning/smoking. The car is fast but it will take some seat time for me to understand it better. I was on completely different gears on every corner compered to when the car was NA. And I was faster NA Than now being turbo... But it was only a shake down , making sure boost levels stay and making sure no there was no leaks in general. Next event should fun, the speed is there just got to find the guts to push it -Manuel

Don't bother with Mosport DDT. The driver development track is really small and narrow. Stick with the big track! The DDT is a fantastic track and will make one a better driver a lot quicker than the big track will. The big track is one of the fastest circuits around, bar none...if you're going to push it there, you better damn well know your cars limits already because there's absolutely no forgiveness there. DDT has elevation changes, all sorts of different turns, and you can hit decent speeds (in that NSX...probably ~200). The beauty of that track is that cars that would die out on the big track can give the powerful cars a run for their money if the driver is good enough. Alternatively, it teaches drivers with powerful cars how to really handle the power. My 2 Cents.

Went to DDT CC configuration , at first I was struggling with massive understeer , the car just did not wanted to turn and turbo was pretty much useless at this track. But by the end of the day after playing with the suspension and tire pressures I got the car step out just enough, in the last laps I was able to get out of the corners extremely neutral with so much room to keep pushing, but there was not enough track All in all, great day, Car was realible too. -Manuel
