Hi Guys,
I would like to start this post by sharing what I've been doing since November last year. I would love to see yours, please post it here.

BTW this is the first winter I have her stored. Previously I depended on her as my daily runner and I had no garage.

It's time to give her care she deserve!

Suggested by Ryan Laliberte. Replaced stock rail with this beautiful peace. Allows more room to mount FMIC tu

I think put on/off this intercooler maybe 10 times. After all
I had to mount it lower then fog light holes using 90 degree brackets to hide a gap between FMIC and lower part of the bumper.

What do you think? this is the best thing I could come up with how to recirculate bov. (CT drain section + old Rad hose)

Special thanks to Ziggy for all needed parts including
front bumper; and thanks to Ryan Laliberte for helping with how to redesign power steering cooler.

Mike: This is a new mount with energy mount inserts. I still need to replace rear mount I just can't find a way to it!

We'll do. I bought one from Bogdan Kunac last week. Just need to be installed and painted. Still not sure what to do with stock 2ga spoiler. Leave both or just GSX wing!?

Yes same kit that you got Mike. I re-mounted stock coolant overflow to one of the slim fan supporting arm.

Very nice. I might just have to steal your idea with that coolant overflow mount... the cap on mine doesn't like to stay secure on my Gatorade bottle anymore freak

Please don't leave both on there. You'll end up looking like a ricer. Ryan L's 2g had both wings on there, and every time I saw it, I died a little inside. Just ruins the look of the car. Do it right.

Otherwise, Alex, VERY nice work. Keep it up. tu

Thanks for the advice. Not sure how the 2ga spoiler is mounted under there but I guess I would need to cover some big holes.

The holes aren't that big. IIRC, there are only 3 bolts that hold the spoiler on, and they are just little. You'll have to remove the plastic on the bottom of your hatch lid, and you'll see them all right there. The biggest hole is from the wire harness to the 3rd brake light. Also, not THAT big.

Yes I used that between aluminum head and exhaust manifold. The temperatures there will not exceed what that silicone was rated for.

Wow, that's absolutely gorgeous.

Lots of TLC.

That's exactly what my baby needs.

What did you use to clean the front of the block like you did and what did you use to paint it?

I sprayed the block with some Canadian Tire engine digresser than I used power washer to washed it all off; I did it twice. For the paint I used high temperature caliper paint. Bought it in CT as kit for 20$ (forgot the brand name). Kit came with enough paint to paint all calipers, engine and exhaust. For exhaust manifold, turbo, and o2 housing I used different high temperature paint. I will post it here once I am back home today.

As for me, I have about $2500 in suspension parts waiting to be installed that I'll be looking for volunteers to wrench on an Audi for a change if they like.

- H&R Springs
- Bilstein shocks
- 13 piece control arm kit
- tie rod ends
- new motor mounts
- fuel filter (may install that prior)

Awesome!

Thanks for the info Alex!

Your car's freakin' CLEAN. I love it.

Once I get my mechanical things in order I'm going to get a new left fender and a hood, since mine are both rusted.

Then I'll treat the body to some new paint if I can afford it later.

I want a shiny DSM, not a dull one like mine.

Edit: Sorry I'm a complete newbie when it comes to cleaning cars and such. Did you just spray on the degreaser and then pressure wash it off or did you scrub it in using something?

no scrubbing just washing it with power washer. You'll be surprised how good the job it can do. Just need to wear glasses while washing. Degreaser not needed but recommended. Spray degreaser first and let it soak it before power washing.

As for the clean car, thanks Michael. If you think my car is clean think again, mine got rust on it. I know DSMers here have way cleaner cars then mine

Downpipe gasket is new and bolts are tight. Flex is too far away from where it smells

Well, it can leak between the turbine housing and the center section, but the v-band will be covered in soot so it will be pretty obvious.
Other than that, maybe something is cracked or it's another gasket you haven't touched (but I think you got them all?).

Thanks Rob,
yes all gaskets are new including J-pipe gasket.

I'll do some more tests and let you know. Maybe soon we can all meet at the York dale and discuss things.

Michael,
Here is the paint I used:

I would recommend trimming the stock ducting and putting it back in place (above the FMIC), then sealing it all up with aluminum tape. This way, as air passes through the FMIC, it is then forced through the radiator because there is no other place for it to go. Remember that air will travel the path of least resistance.

I took lots of photos when I did mine. You can view them here: http://s498.photobucket.com/albums/rr347/scmcint/FMIC%20Install/?start=all

Also, would you mind re-posting that Summit link for your power steering cooler? The link is broken. Thanks!
