Toyo Tires, JRP, Attack Time Trial Series

Hosted by SPDA

2010 Marks the 2nd year of the ATTS. The only series to pit you against your competitors in four different genres of motorsport!

Gymkhana - Time Attack - Touge - Drag Race

Changes to the rule book increases the factor, competition, tightens up the classifications. 2010 Street tire allowances level the playing field by providing a 2% time advantage, couple that with the Toyo Tire bonus and you've got a winning combination.

This summer, it's time to park the bench racing and take it to ATTS to Prove IT

Rules, Schedule, and additional details can be found at the ATTS site:

What time is this running. I'd like to try to make it but I'm already going to watch the race on the main track. If it's early enough maybe I can try to do both.

If all goes well, I'll see you there.

Same Config as last year?

Thanks Tashko.
Your 1G is Epic in the corners.

You are still a second ahead, so I'm guessing you're on a much faster line!

I'm surprised I clocked a better time than Larry in his Prepped EVO X!

Thanks man. It was cool to see my car going around the track in anger when my buddy was driving it.

My suspension is way too stiff for the bumps of the track. Not much body-roll but also not much compliance. Works fine for autoslalom with the big tires, not so much on the bumpy track.

It sucks that we're in the same run group, it's hard to hop in each others cars! I didn't get a chance to do any video this time either. Next event I'll have some form of video going.

Unfortunately, a couple of the bolts that hold the turbo to the manifold backed out during the last lapping session and I developed an exhaust leak. The car was not as peppy getting on the throttle but it still made 16psi. The hot gases in the engine bay melted part of my upper timing cover and cooked my alternator. Drove home with ever dropping voltage.

Hope your day was less eventfull car-wise.

See you at the next one!!

Is it mostly a 3rd gear course, with three or four 2nd gear turns?

You should check that your conical turbo bolt washers are not flipped on the wrong side. Also, did you remove that engine hoist loop that bolts to the exhaust manifold (in front of TB cover? I left mine on just to deflect heat from the TB cover.

I could definitely tell when it was either you or your friend driving it.

I have a few more tweeks I need to make. It should be better setup next time too.

If it makes you feel any better, I was running 16 psi too.

Now, I've been looking into "NORD LOCK" washers for a while to prevent these sort of issues.

Race bike and snowmobile guys use them religiously.

Yeah, now I know why everybody said the car looked fast. He was much faster than me through the last corner in front of the pit area/cabin coming up the hill turns 8 and 10 on the plot. Here's the data (I'm blue, he's red):

Wow, he pretty much had you in that last corner huh?

I've recently aligned my car again.
It was raining and my car was darting back and forth.
Felt really weird.
I knew something was up but WOW!!

BEFORE
Front L R
Camber -1.6 -1.6
TOE -0.24 +0.12

REAR L R
Camber -2.0 -2.0
TOE 0.78 0.41

Thrust angle = 0.2!!

This explains why my car felt a little unpredictable in the corners during the time trials.

AFTER ALIGNMENT
Front L R
Camber -2.5 -2.5
TOE -0.05 -0.05

NOTE, I have an alternate setting at -1.6 camber available on my setup.

REAR L R
Camber -2.4 -2.4
TOE 0.20 0.20
Thrust angle = 0

Hopefully, this alone with my new 12.5 inch brakes will be enough
to keep up this time!!
