do you know if this is the most recent block design with the split thrust (sp?) washers? I believe that design only came in 98-99 engine blocks.

the one he got is a 1g turbo 7 bolt . how i know because i got 3 block from the same source.

I bought it privately off a guy in Markham. He had it listed on Kijiji. I bought this about 6 months ago but never ended up using it. Now its just taking up garage space.

You'll need to prove that this is 2G 95-98 7Bolt block and not 1g 7Bolt as suggested by Kevin.

I think the bearings changed in '97 didn't they? I think they are the same for 92.5 - 97 and then different from 97 - 99. I am not sure when in 97 they changed.

Alex, how do i go about proving that? If someone is interested in purchasing it they are welcome to come take a look at it. Hopefully they will know what they are looking for cause i will not know the difference.

If you are not happy with what ever bearings it has why not just install ACL bearings. I would recomend it anyways. That is what i have in mine.

ACL premium bearings will not only hold up better and longer than OEM, but the special coating process will also help prevent premature engine bearing failures and expensive engine damage.

It probably not the quality of bearing people are concerned with its the bearing design itself. For 98 model year, they switched to a split thrust bearing design, which was there design to prevent crank walk. They switched over to this design for cars with a build date after June 97, I believe (so some very late 97 model year have it as well).

I would imagine you can pop the oil pan to veryify this. Anther good idea while the oil pan if off is to check for oil squirters to verify this is a turbo & not a NT block.

7 Bolt blocks don't have oil squirters like the 6 bolts do.
There are oil squirters in there, but it's a different style. They are not as easily identified like the 6 bolt. There is no "tube" like the 1G's, you can only see them if looking straight down the cylinder from the top.

Never had one apart but can you not see them if your on the right angle or atleast feel for them? Might be hard to see them from above with pistons installed

If you trust that it's the same oil pan that came with the block, just look for the turbo oil return..

there is a turbo oil return. Also the pistons are marked 63DT. I assume the T stands for turbo?

just an fyi, the picture shows the water pump and oil pump attached but they are not included.
