Well, figured I'd post this up for anyone who wants one last crack at the 1/4 mile.

Going to try and blast into the mid-low 12's on the S16G before the season's up so I'll be there. Ghislain, Eric and maybe Jamie? Paul S?

Get your asses up to S-Ville for one last DSM Dominating Street night!

Defenately planing to attend.

Now to make it public; I gave Ryan a "Gone V8 hunting, back in 12 sec" sticker for his Bday. Stipulation was that he'd have to get at least two 12 sec slip (back it up) or one well into the 12 before he slaps it on.

As for myself will attempt to do the same but into the 11.

This will be the last S'ville event so lets finish this season in style!!!

I would also like to invite everyone that can attend to show up. Heck; make it a good representation. Remember guys; lots of V8 to beat on!!!

I just ordered a 250psi pump to replace my princess auto one so I can up my meth for the last kick at the cat. Plan is to install an M7 on top of my M3, spray 1000cc of 100% meth, up the boost, crank the timing and hold the fuk on... hope she holds together.

Be a personal best for me that night for sure.

There will have to be a new "forum only special" going up soon. There have been some super deals there, I am surprised VERY few people are taking advantage of them....

Ill be there. I've challenged a local Skyline that runs mid 12's to my Colt which has run a best of 12.8 on 20 psi. I'm going with 26 psi and hoping he'll flub the launch, lol.

So what time are all the Belleville/Trenton boys heading down?

I'm hoping to get out of work a bit early to get some much needed tuning done and leave for the track around 6-6:30pm.

I'm hoping to beat up on some V8 muscle from a few guys I work with.

Eric, can you pick me up a jug of meth at Crappy for me? I won't have time, pay you when I get home.

Methyl Hydrate, I believe in Trenton it's in the paint section.

Send me a text if you get this.

See you guys tonight!

Bring home some 11 sec slips boys.
I will be there but as a spectator only. Last tuning pull seems to have ripped something apart inside the trans. Barely made it home.

I think the night belongs to Ryan. I'll let him spill the beans.

I did not hit the 11 sec but pretty much hit the speed of sound... Pretty much ran low 12 all night. One of the best time was 12.094 at 119.36mph, slept at the line with a 1.132 r/t, 1.789 for 60'. Ryan beat me on that run with a 12.3 at 108.

An other good slip was 12.255 at 120.33mph with a 0.758 r/t with a 1.779 60'.

Car ran like a top even if I pretty much Hot Lapped the poor thing. Traction was non existant. I lowered the Launch RPM to 5000 and should of drop it down to 4750. Tail was stepping out like mad. Made it interesting let me tell ya'll!!!

Destroyed my Laptop on the first run; took my front passenger seat out and the Laptop flew back pretty hard. Got a blue screen, rebooted the stupid thing but the Hard Drive is no longer alive...

Ryan lent me his for a few runs which was a great help; thanks again.

To top it all up I schreaded a Tire on the way back home. Called Ryan and he came to help me out since I left my Spare and jack home...

All in all a hell of a good end to this season.

Had a hell of a good time.

Ghislain

Well boys, I hate to disappoint, but the turbo just didn't have it in her last night. Wouldn't hold boost no matter what I did, but still had an awesome night. Best slip was against Giz for a 12.3 @ 108 with a .7 reaction and 1.72 60'. Traction was a huge issue for everyone, but we all had a blast.

Best part about the night was I ripped off 5 or so low 12 second passes, full weight, full street trim, and drove it home, not to mention the 2.5 hour drive from Ottawa beforehand.

Great way to end the season, I am still running for the 11 second slip, bit it may take an external gate to do it. My boost controller is maxed, and I hit about 28psi max last night, falling off to about 20 at the end of the rpm band, the exhaust pressure is overcoming the wastegate spring. My tune was pretty good, only getting a bit of knock in 3rd, nothing worth mentioning in 1st or 2nd.

Going to throw my birthday present from Giz on the back bumper today, swap my rims back out for my good ones and its back to Ottawa on Tuesday!

For those who do not know; I bought a "Gone V8 Hunting Back in 12 Sec" sticker for Ryan's BDay. I told him that he could only put it on if he'd get a few slips into the 12 or if he'd get a single one but deep into it. Needless to say he went from a previous best of 13.1 down to 12.3 five time.

Quite valid.

Post a pic; as cheezy as it might be.

Sufferen Mudder of Mosses!!!

LapTop news: I was thinking; what if the HD came out of it's scoket??? Took it out of my car and looked under. Stupid screws must of fell of at one time. The HD was sticking out the side of the Machine. Glad I found the problem; would of been nice if I would of made the discovery last night. Wife can have her LapTop back.

Wryan; can you send me my logs???

Well the best I got was 12.00/129mph(33psi) and that was with no traction in 1 and 2 and short shifted to 3rd. My car hooks better on the street. Did 12.4/122 with just a wastegate(20psi) . I tried 35psi but car car just would not hook for me. It did not help that the tires are 5.5 years old with 40psi in them. I'm getting tired of drags and will enjoy the car for what it is.

Let me tell you that it was quite the show to see your tail wave to the crowd. Made for a good spectacle.

All in all it was a good night. I was talking to Mr Jean Gauthier (owner of the track) and he told me that he is planing to replace the timing system for next year to include a new panel that will show the Times. The one they had was busted and they could not fix it. They will also have two event a month where you'll be able to Lap and do 1/4 mile the same night; as much as you want.

Might not be the best 1/4 mile track but it is local.

I think I will invest in some 225/45/17 bfg drag radials for next season. I know it can't be my driving as I can get my other t25 talon to do 13.7 in the 1/4 and consistent 1.8sce 60 foot(last time out I got 1.79). I really think that the 2.3L torque is not helping when launching and the tires are 5 years old. Also I know that I'm stubborn and insist on running 40psi in the tires(hahaa). Its kind of funny when I tell people that I run 40psi in the engine and my tires. Om my last run I did 96mph in the 1/8th and 129mph in the 1/4 so I know the car works well but my 60 foot were 1.94sec WTF...

The race is on for all three of us into the 11's.... demon

Mike: Plans for next year are to stay on the same snail, but work on suspension. I'd like to clean things up a bit more in the engine bay, possibly switch to an Evo Intake manifold, 1G TB, upgrade FMIC and go with an external gate to better control boost. I'll also be finally making the switch to Speed Density.

I know you have big brakes, which limits real slicks (though might be able to run the Hoosier QTP's) but if you want to stick to DR's, also look at the Hoosier DR's. I believe they will offer more grip & have a softer sidewall vs the BFG's. They come in a 225/50/16, if you can fit a 16" rim over the brakes.

I really think that the 2.3L torque is not helping when launching and the tires are 5 years old. Also I know that I'm stubborn and insist on running 40psi in the tires(hahaa). Its kind of funny when I tell people that I run 40psi in the engine and my tires. I ran my car right into 11.00's on 215/45/17 General Exclaim cheapo UHP almost bald street tires. I even rolled out in 1st on them and still ran like a 11.2@135 mph. Also I trapped 129 mph at 29psi on the FP3065. I would suspect 40 psi on a DSM HTA82 should make you trap way more. 35 psi netted me 136mph.
Wanna trade turbos ? naughty

I think there is something holding your car back, maybe a bottle neck somewhere.

Get some slicks, but then again don't expect to shave a whole second off with them smile

Check out Darren P, he went AWD and is still stuck in the 12's (no offence intended Darren wink ) , almost as quick as Ryan L.

Actually Ryan L is doing better than you guys with a 12.3 @ 108. That's driving, lol, no wait that's auto! tongue

Give me a clutch that doesn't slip & shifts properly at 7750rpm & maybe I won't be "stuck in the 12's".

I've only been out twice on the awd setup & both times had issues (so I haven't bother to go back till I get them sorted out). First time out, 5 passes, on pump 91 (not the 94 I normally run), so boost started lower then street boost & as I started to up things, clutch was slipping in 1st (hench the 12.3 @ 120 w/2.0 60ft)

Last time couldn't get off the line without the clutch slipping, boost was good but power was off (comp test verified 20psi lower in one cylinder) & was having issues shifting, missed 4th twice.

Still ran a 12.8 @ something like 108 mph, with a poor 2.0 60ft, with my first missed 3-4 shift.

Second time missed 3-4 shift, then ended up putting it in 2nd! (nice 10200rpm rev!). Pulled it out of 2nd, & coasted the rest of the way. Still managed a 13.0 @ 82mph with a ~1.95 60.

In that case I just don't know. The car pulls really hard, I never run more then 35psi at the track. Any suggestions are welcome.

I know my first time out this year when the clutch was still holding properly, I was hitting 94-95mph in the 1/8th, with low 1.9 60's. I run my street tire pressure of 32 as well, zero slip.

Do your tires always break lose bad or just with bad track prep/cold track temps? I believe your running the BFG KDW's? If so, that could be part of the problem (plus of course the 40psi in them!) & add to that their a few years old. They use to be a good tire but that design has been out for what now, 10+ years? Tire technology has come a long way in the last few years & I don't think BFG has kept up. I'm running 235/40/18 Kumho XS's & they offer great grip. They basically never break lose (street or track).

Its not the same but I know my old man got KDW's for his vette about 5 years back & he wasn't/isn't impressed with them. The previous set of Firestone Firehawks were a much better tire in both dry & wet grip.

Hey aren't you on a dual syncro TRE stage 4 race transmission smile ? My single syncro rebuilds shift like a breeze at 8k, so it definately might be some clutch adjustment or slipping issues as you say. Also your mis shifts might be because of some cable adjustment issues or you might possibly have one of those short shifters in the car ?

On the street right now I'm running Bridgestone Potenza S02 pole positions. I can fry them through a 2nd gear roll on. 32psi on pump and meth. Can't wait to put in my Cusco LSD center diff, to see how it counteracts wheel spin.

Yes I'm on a TRE tranny, that shifts great! Like I said, give me a clutch that shifts great (not a tranny). Adjustments are all good, but clutch drags at higher rpms. Flywheel step height (was new XACT at the time) is on the low side, measured around .606 with my Princess auto dial indicator, but figured its new, I'll throw it in anyways & figured a clutch disk wears down more then .002, so it should be alright (plus who says the PA dial indicator was accurate?). Thinking that probably caused atleast part of the issue (if not all).

Clutch itself is a Fidenza 4.3, origionally held great on launching. But after about 10K I could no longer get it to hold when launching the car (but holds fine at any other time & if I roll into it at all). Building any kind of boost & it slips in 1st, obviously causing me to have to shift sooner then I should. Ends up having to shift 10mph or so lower, which made the car bog when I hit second & having to wait for the turbo to re-spool. Kinda hard to make up for all that lost time.

Over the winter I'll probably be doing some work to the car this year (didn't do any last year). Clutch will be replaced, flywheel checked & probably work on building up the bottom end. If all goes well, I won't baby on the boost next year.....

So I'm guessing you won't go back to a Fidanza 4.3. What clutch you plan on using ?

Probably not, will be interesting to see what it looks like when I pull it but I've seen too many guys post up the 4.3 spitting springs & even portions of the puck material missing, when they pulled it.

Not sure, have thought about about going atleast a South Bend disk with possibly their pressure plate or the ACT 2900. Have heard great things on this combo (Tim Zimmer, 600+awhp, drives like a street setup & holds the power at the track). Clutch choice may depend on what bottom I build. Not sure if I want to stay 7 bolt, for the ease of things or just go 6 bolt & be done with it (not have to worry so much about clutch choice & light PP). Either way, will be keeping the 7 bolt head & if there's any funds left from the budget bottom, would like to send the head to Curt Brown for some love.

I second that. The South Bend disc with 2900 and ACT flywheel is by far the best clutch setup I have used.

I don't mean to hijack the thread here, just want to ask a couple questions!
I need a whole new clutch setup, and have read lots of good things and very little bad about the South Bend clutches, but I had planned on keeping my stock flywheel, would that be a problem do you think?
Also, I don't have an ACT 2900 currently that I can use a pressure plate from, so would I be ok to use one of the pressure plates from SB? Or should I buy a new 2900 PP, if you can buy them seperately?
Finally, if you're using a SB disc, what discs have you tried? :

Thanks,

Guess were getting of course, but I was going to ask Todd the same thing. I would guess he & alot of other guys are running the TZ series disk but I was possibly thinking about going the dual friction SS-X route. I believe Tim said its still very streetable but can handle the heat better & of course, more power. I'd rather be "over built" then under built.

I'm sure contacting Tim directly would be your best bet as he knows a bunch of the different combos & what might be best for you. If you do, let me know what he says as I was going to contact him when clutch time comes for his input.

Get a pic up of the 4.3 when you take it out Daren. On the other hand I've never had a problem with ACT clutches and ACT disks. Everything just needs to be adjusted right, and worn out parts replaced.

I talked to south bend and they recommended the stock flywheel for any setup as it can handle a lot more heat and will launch better than the ACT or Fidanza.

thanks for this info, I'll definitely be sticking with the stock flywheel for now, and do plan on going with the SB kevlar/feramic disc....now just need to figure out if I'll be using their pressure plate, or an ACT....thanks Todd
