I know its kinda early, but I plan to make a trip to Ontario in 2011 to visit some family in the richmond Hill area. And I would like to make it so it falls on a weekend that theres a shoot out of some sort going on.
I have followed some events on here that went on. And I would love to make it for one of those.
Any idea on which one would be ideal?
A yearly DSM shoot out,Sport compact shoot out or 4g63 weekend?
2 of us will be coming. Myself with my 98 GSX looking for 10s and my Co worker with his 95 GSX looking for 11s.
Just a thought. A head start is nice so I can book the time ahead!

Planning will probably be done early in the season next year, for a July/Aug event, as it normally goes.
Could be anything from cruise/BBQ, test & tune, track rental to dyno day. Stay tuned! alien

I will for sure.
I have access to a double car trailer and diesel truck to haul. And it would be cheaper for 2 of us to go splits on fuel in the truck then to drive each car. And of course we have the guarantee of getting home.

Well, I guess I will wait to see when events start to get posted here. And I will decide then.
I have been wanting to make this trip for some time. And the up coming season is as good as any.
Kinda hoping that after following the "BOGUS CLAIMS" post that someone will call someone out.. And I could make it to a shoot out of some sort there!!! smile

Troy, I don't think I would hold my breath waiting for that one. I think there is too much bad blood for the two sides to actually meet at a track.
I am sure that even if someone were to try to arrange it, the blackchicken would only run at Sparta...and I am pretty sure the guys on here would insist on Cayuga.
Maybe we could convince team pump gas + meth to all go down to the Ohio shootout this year? THAT would be something!!

Correct, I'm pretty content at racing at a Cayuga smile It is a BETTER, SAFER, and REAL racing facility. It only makes sense for fast cars to race a Cayuga, SAFELY. demon Its not a bootleg track like Sparta with dips in the track, and who knows what else is actually wrong with it shuffle

Troy, you should try to come down to Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga on any weekend in the summer. More than likely something will be going on, and you should be able to get in some good racing.

I'll be competeing in CSCS events next year in SS PA class. Would be nice to see more killer street DSM's competing in that class. They have also had Pinks at Cayuga for the last two years. Just take a look at their website and they should have a 2011 schedule up soon.

Reza, Why don't you and Kevin and Tim plan a holiday in Ohio in August of this year....Maybe even Todd would consider coming. maybe one of you could actually run side by side against the blackchicken....

I'd love to Ziggy but its just not practical for me to tow my car all the way there to race. Plus I never really cared soo much about the Shootout and still don't. If I had easy access to a truck and trailer, I'd give it some thought maybe.

I'm actually more thrilled to race in CSCS where GTA folks already recognize the White beast smile I don't really care so much about a once a year event in the states with DSM's, but thats just me.

On the other hand, I don't think BlackChicken has enuff wink

This makes me very happy as I have shyed away from attending CSCS events because it ended up turning out to be a HONDA shootout every single time. I will definitely be attending now that you're running. Who knows, maybe Helder and Kevin will join you. What a battle that will be smile

I'd love to see you at both, LOL.
How about driving down and back?
I am guessing a Uhaul trailer would not be that much for the weekend.....and my Jeep would probably tow it if it DID break down...
You could all sign up as being with "Team pump gas and Meth"....they would likely announce it over the PA, as they did a few years ago with "peckerhead racing" playing the ice cream truck music....

And Sergio, who might join Reza at CSCS? Kevin and WHO???

LOL. I knew you were going to say that Ziggy smile

Heck, why not? Is there a category for fastest 16G powered 2G FWD in Canada or the record of how many driveshafts a FWD can break?

Haha, if there is no other FWD 16g car that responds in this thread, I think that officially makes you the Fastest FWD 16g DSM in Canada rotflmao

LMAO. You kill me!

Actually, I will be racing next year not at the CSCS event but against one of my good friends. He has a hatch civic with an RSX Type-S motor and he is gunning for me. Typically I don't really care for those cars but his ride is pretty darn quick and given the 2G is FWD, it should make for an interesting race.

Reza: I'm not big into raising b.s. or trying to start some flame post but I think that you should pull up your skirt and attend the Ohio SO.

You do have access to a Truck and Trailor. You trailorde you Sled to Sparta last year; I know I was there.

I know that I do not generate the power and slip that you do but I have been attending the SO for about 10 years and always drove...

Again; I do not have the chance of a break up that you might have. I even drove there by myself. What would of I done if I broke???

1) Fix it

2) Rent a Truck and Trailor and drive up to the Border and then use my CAA to haul my ars back to Trenton.

Please do not pull that excuse.

If Troy can haul his ars from Nova Scotia to Ontario you have the means to haul ars to Ohio.

Heck; I would even give you 200km of my CAA account of a tow if need be.

Again; pull up your skirt and attend for once.

Peace.

Ghislain

Reza, I'm inclined to agree with Giz.

Sam, Eric and I have been wanting to attend the SO for a few years now, but haven't due to extenuating circumstances. There isn't ANYTHING stopping us this year (in fact, we already have a fund started) from going. It's in the middle of August, and by that time you are WELL into the racing season, so the car is well dialed in. Even if you drive it, there will be enough of us going (I.E Us) that will have a truck/trailer to hawl yer arse home for ya.

My claim to help him my 200km CAA "Limp back homeon a Tow Truck Trailor" still stands. Point is to make sure that some of the Canadian DSM Comunity would back him up if he broke up and could not fix himself up in the Hotel parking lot or withing a reasonable time frame.

Skirt, purce or nuts is what would be left on the ground if he chose not to drive up for the Show. We know you can deliver; how about do'n it on a big track where the "Hater" could be allowed to go back home with him "tail" between his legz!!!

I've got a CAA membership also....they should be good in the US also, no?
Also, how much can a car trailer from Uhaul for a 4 day weekend be?? How about if RTM was to rent a trailer, haul it down there empty, and whoever breaks first down there (that can't be fixed reasonably) has the spot on the trailer. From there on, everyone can decide whether they want to keep pushing it or just relax and drive it home...

A trailor can be rented for cheap. All one would need is to borrow the service (Pulling machine) of someone else and rent a Trailor. That is what the Quebec guys did this year when one of their member destroyed his Tranny on the way up to Norwalk.

Your CAA Membership would work in the US of A. That would give "someone" 400kayz of Trailor if something was to happend.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have a 97 AWD Ziggy? wink

Shouldn't RTM Racing have a shop car? Call it "Whitebird?"

OK if I have this kind of support maybe I SHOULD take the beast down south love . Giz yes I did use my Dads truck last time and borrowed someone elses trailor. I don't have easy access to that truck as it is his work horse at his Howard Johnson in Hearst Ontario, 1000km north wink
It just happened to be in town that time.

I could definately rent a trailer so if Zig or anyone else wanted to tow me, I would put some thought into this ponder

Ya, but I need it to hold down the jackstands. It hasn't seen a lot of road since I bought it. I DID get the wiring fixed, and have a replacment sunroof ready to go in.....and even a used 16g...but no time to tinker. Right now, it is pretty much the "R&D" vehicle for checking fits of parts, LOL.
I LIKE the name suggestion, though, LOL

I am definitely able to tow one vehicle back if need be. I think we should get the entire team pump gas and meth out this year to the shootout. I think we can pretty much guarantee getting ONE broken car back no problem....maybe we can even get a second person with a tow vehicle and be on the even SAFER side.

I also think we should petition Andy B., Steve Kinnaird, Rob Greer, PPG, Ghis, and Ryan L. to all make it out this year....

I'm defenately planning to attend.

Last year; I drove with Jamie Valcamp. He brought a Trailor as an insurance policy. That was nice to have but I would of still make the trip even if I would of have to drive by myself.

Attendance of this club has been dwindeling over the last few years. I can understand that we all have a busy life but with a little planing things can happend.

My plea is to "invite" as many people as possible so we can have fun and participate in a greath event.

Few years ago one of the Newfoundland memebre came up. Now he did bring his car on a Trailor which was defenately a smart move. For us we live an avreage of 6 to 8 hours away and come as a group. Resources are plentifull and support from other member is excellent.

Mark down your calender guys.

Did Jamie rent the trailer, or does he own it?
I'm with you on this Ghis...we should DEFINITELY get a big group from club DSM Canada down there this year, and it should be spearheaded by team pump gas + meth!

I think the total U-haul bill for the weekend was just under $300. That was for Thursday night pickup to Monday night drop off, 4 days. Wasn't too bad I thought for the insurance of getting home in a timely manner if either of us broke. It towed great as well around 120km/hr and not a huge hit in mileage.

I'm definitely in next year. Really hoping to see a bigger Canadian turnout too. Maybe I'll even tighten my knock sensor down this time.

Good to see this much excitement this early. Leaves lot's of time to plan so we're not pulling anyone's transmission apart at 11pm the night before.

Planning on attending as it stands so funds shouldnt be an issue. I will also have another CAA member ship for 200km if anyone else from here is going.

How much is it roughly for the weekend?

I've been wanting to go for the last 2 or 3 years that I haven't gone. Haven't had a dsm to take so I didn't want to go, did it once like that didn't feel authentic enough. The last year I've done nothing to my car, I am just too busy. Things aren't as busy now (no weddings to be in or other family crap to deal with). I've just got to decide whether I am just focused on getting my car running or to really clean it up. I think I just want to get it running and get a summer with a trip and a few runs down the 1320 with er.

I must say I had a blast when I went down with Ryan, Eric, Ghis, Scott, Pete and meeting everyone else down there and driving back with PPG, Greer, Kinnaird group. That was 07 I think.

I would only be interested in the drive down, I don't think I'd be taking my car on the track I am too much of an amateur there.

With any luck I will be ready to rock! Oh and I didn't mind camping on the lawn of that motel we stayed in, they let us stay the 2 other nights for $20, the first night there was 6 of us in a motel room. They let the campers use the pool shower, we had a bonfire too and got well lubricated from what I recall.

Oh and I have CAA plus and so does the gf so thats another 400k of towing. You could also buy another CAA plus membership just make up a person and add them as associate its like 74$. Actually in all the time I have had CAA I've only used it for myself once all other times I usually end up helping a friend get a tow or something.

You don't HAVE to drive down in a DSM. I think we only did that one year. We go just to watch and to have a great time....

Depends also where and how long you stay. We found a nice motel last year with indoor pool and hot tub, paid about $250. or so for the room for 3 nights. I didn't want to drive back Sunday night. At that rate, it would be closer to $500. or more with gas and meals.

I've had a DSM for 3 years, and been to the shoot out for the last 2 years. It's a great time. If there is any way to be there you should. I've had a chance to meet some great people, had great conversations with well known people in the community. If you can go at all I would suggest you go. It's a great experience. Staying over the Sunday night is some thing to think about. I did the first year. Then drove home this year. I would opt to stay over if you can. It's a long day on Sunday.

The shootout is defenatly a great event to go and watch. Ive been going for the past 3 years and it is always well worth the trip. This year we decieded to head back to canada on the sunday night.I would not highly recommend this. Once i got to the other side of the border i was almost falling asleep behind the wheel LOL. I would stay the extra day and leave the monday morning.

It's only once a year, so make a vacation of it. Take the extra day off, stay an extra night, and really ENJOY the ENTIRE trip, instead of rushing home dead tired for the sake of a few bucks.....

Haha, don't forget the Pit Crew Captain!

Hopefully I'll be able to make it out next year and who knows, maybe I'll have my own DSM or be rocking the first 4G63-powered Mazda 3. It's likely that I'll have finals when the shootout is going on though so I can't say until much closer to the event.

It was definitely a fun event and if there's one thing I learned it's to make sure your knock sensor is tight, right Jamie? (All that work changing the coilpack for nothing - I bet that bolt is still stuck down there!)

I had a blast last time I was there, adam, I think it was wayyy back in 06? lol. Anyway, I'm planning to attend this year, and even race this time! Last time I didnt run because I had an ESi FWD, and really, there was no point to embarrass myself tongue

I think I ended up spending around $400 and stayed 2 nights.

The plan this year is to go but we all know what happens when we make plans. We will probably be towing my car down, and if we don't own a truck by then I'll be driving down.

Either way, we'd like to go even if I don't drive my car down, I'll bring the video camera. wink

That's the spirit!!

I mean....really...for guys who consider themselves "DSMers", and for who your car is such an important part of your life.....how you can you justify NOT going to the shootout....
You see cars there with "shootout or bust" on them. Obviously some of those people weren't even sure they were going to make it, but they TRIED AT LEAST! If you cant save up a couple hundred bucks in a year, you shouldn't be driving a DSM smile
The first year I went we had a TERRIFIC turnout from Ontario, but not since. It really SHOULD be a requirement to call yourself a DSMer....you should need to have attended a shootout at least every other year or something like that, LOL.

Sam and I are buying a truck come spring, so we'll be trailering the AWDAuto down to run in DSA Bracket 2.

It REALLY is a good time. I regret not being able to make it out the past few years (Dave has a habit of scheduling the S.O. on my daughter's B-day).

I'm planning on going again this year though.

I've done both racing, and spectating. I'm not sure which I prefer. Getting a "payout" IS nice, but so is just enjoying the sights, and not worrying about breaking...

Now, I'll have all kinds of time to talk about DSMs, because I won't be busy fixing mine!

I wouldn't mind going to this shootout, haven't met any of you yet but I have access to a 4 door dodge diesel and a 2 car trailer if anyone would need a tow home, if you can put up with an 18 year old for the length of the drive that is.

As it usually is with me, depends on whether I get the funds together to fix my car.

If she's up and running, I'll be there!

Shouldn't be a problem booking the days off work.

Girlfriend wouldn't mind either, but she's more familiar with the West Coast California "Fast and Furious" style parties. lol

Most of the cars in the first Fast and Furious movie were from the San Diego area; her friends cars.

Lucky jerks frown

Driving down and hanging out sounds like fun too, but driving down in a 2000 four door sh!t green Civic with manual windows and no A/C does not.
