The decision has been made to host the DSM Invasion 2011 in beautiful Prince Edward County. Details are still being finalized with a few local members around here.

As per the poll, the date will be August 13th, 2011.

I will be organizing this event this year in conjunction with the local guys around here (Giz and Eric) so we can make this event a blast.

There is no event scheduled this weekend at Shannonville.

The final meeting spot will be announced with the route.

Hope you are all looking forward to this invasion. The cruise will be just as exciting as last year, and hopefully it won't rain!!

People out west - Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Brampton... where is our meeting spot going to be?

I would suggest somewhere along the 401 in the east end of Toronto. That way nobody has to back-track and we are all together for the long leg of the 401.

We can set up initial meeting spots west of that but I think there should be a big one leaving Toronto to get the whole group together at once

Maybe the Canadian Tire at McCowan Rd and Sheppard Ave East? Or should it be before there? Just trying to think of a place that won't have that busy of a parking lot.

I think what will happen is, once we get the final destination and meeting time figured out, we will set up 3 or 4 meeting points and time it appropriately. Based on the last one I think we are getting better at the route and timing thing

Google maps says 6 hours and 20 minutes total of driving for me! Then I think of the 500+ kms and cost of gas haha. Oh well, it will be fun.

Probably should put a gas station pit stop once we get up there.

Its about 2.5 hours from Markham, and Markham isn't 4 hours away from Mississauga.

It's still less than a tank of gas even from Oakville and beyond. Unless your cruise isn't tuned or you're having too much fun

Yeah, sorry. I don't know what I'm talking about! I get around 305 miles per tank. The needle is right on the empty line at that point.

If you know how long it is to Oshawa from your place, the total drive time to Wooler Road (Trenton, ON) is 1 hour @ 120km/hr pretty much to the dot.

It's going to be great.

You know what boyz; I know that it might be a little farther than you would maybe like but this cruise should be pretty good.

Prince Edward County has lots to offer. Take the cruise with us on Saturday, stay the night in the area and spend Sunday cruising into the county to visit the Wineries, Museum heck visit the beachs.

There is a multitude of B&Bs, hotel, camping. Make a week end vacation out of it.

Free Camping at my place (Well the girlfriend's), about 20 minutes west of Trenton! Lots of parking, fridge for beer. BBQ for cooking things. Firepit for bonfire. Out in the country, we can be loud as we want pretty much.

Don't say I didn't offer! I'll give directions to those interested.

P.S. Boyz; we ain't got running water or hydro. You'll have to "do your business" into a porto potty.

I really like the turn out so far.

I just came back from checking a Conservation Area where we are planing to stop for lunch.

It has a big paved parking lot, good shaded picnik area plus a few unshaded picnik tables. Large grass area and a bunch of big threes.

I'm sure you can check it out on line; Macauley Mountain Conservation Area in Picton.

Plan is to access the Conservation Area through #8 rd rather which will avoid driving through the "Downtown". The Conservation Area is about 1 minute drive from Downtown if someone needs to go and buy something.

Remember that the area has lots to offer if someone wants to make it a week end trip. Lots of Wineries to visit, campgrounds and pretty decent beachs. B&B are plentifull:

In pieces? She'll be starting up tonight if all goes as planned. All the fluids are in, engine's primed. Everything is wired up.

Still need to put on bumper (need to drill out a few bolts) and install headlights/markers but otherwise not much left.

Oh yah, gotta wire my wideband into my ECU and get new crush washers for my clutch slave banjo bolt as it's leaking and I have a small water leak but nothing that'll stop her from running right now!

Us GTA guys are going to have to meet up some place in the morning. How about the parking lot of AMC theatres at 401 & Kennedy in Scarborough ? It should be pretty quiet on a Saturday morning, unlike Yorkdale.
There is also a Petro Canada right there in case anyone needs to fill up on ultra 94.

I think that it should be a pretty good cruise.

P.E.C. is a beatufull area and the road we plan to take is very nice and shold allow for a memorable event.

Pepeole should remember that the are has lots to offer so feel free to drive up the day before and spend Sunday going to the Beach and/or visiting the numerous winery. Make a vacation out of it.

There is a few member in the area and could defenately arrange for pre cruise meetings.

I wouldn't doubt that there will be a few who will show up without mentioning it. I'm sure there will be some Kingston guys show up, as well as a few others. It will be good.

Giz and I planned everything for about 30 cars (not people). Usually we see about 50-60% of that number (kinda sad....)

Just an FYI: Times are TENTATIVE at this point. I have yet to drive the route (this weekend) so I can get a better idea once I do.

Also, DO NOT FORGET to bring food, and a means to cook it!!! A camping chair would be advisable as well.

If we can get some bbq's going in the park, I'll get my wife to marinate some ckicken for us like last year. I just don't want to drive with the bbq in the hatch. I can always toss the meat in a cooler and bring it along

I drove this route yesterday, it took me a total of 2 hours to drive it all.

The first leg of the route is about 50kms taking us to Bird City and a conservation area where we are going to eat. From there, we'll continue on our journey to Bloomfield, along the coastline to the 401.

Timings:

We are going to meet at the Petro Canada at the corner of Adam St and Cannifton Rd. There is 94 Octane there, a HUGE parking lot and a Subway there for anyone who wants to grab a bite to eat.

This is exit 544 off the 401.

Everyone should meet there at 11AM. From there we'll just take it as the day goes. The last leg of the trip is about an hour and a half give or take, probably less than that. I did 10 over the limit for most of it and I did the whole thing from start to finish with 2 stops in 2 hours.

It's not a car issue (or, it shouldn't be...she should be [back] on the road this Saturday), one of my best friends changed his birthday get-together from this Saturday to next, so depending on what's going down I may be able to make it out for some/all of the cruise and then drive back to Toronto.
