Well, I've finally got around to the install of this thing.

Background: I purchased a Mitsubishi RVR intake manifold back before Christmas. I am thinking I've maxed out my setup right now and am changing intakes to crack my 11 (current @ a 12.2).

The only difference between an Evo 3 and RVR manifold is a 52mm throttle body hole, I've ported and smoothed it. I've also ground off the "knubs" on the top of the manifold, as well as welded all the vac line holes shut with the intent of running a vacuum block.

A few comparison pictures:

I took a stock 2G coil pack bracket and welded it up to fit in the stock location on the Evo manifold to make things easier.

I haven't installed it yet. I have a log from my final run at Shannonville for my 12.24 run. This will be used as my baseline. I will not be changing anything in relation to my tune.

Great work, the e3 manifold is much beefier than the 2g that's forsure!

It's in!

It was completely bolt-on however where the EGR is, there is actually a hole, I'm assuming because the EGR on an RVR is a pipe of some sort. I'll plug it with something.

I have yet to do my vacuum setup. I'm going to be running a single 3/8" line (Synflex) to a vacuum block, then running my FPR, Brake Booster and BOV line off of it, as well as connecting my AEM MAP sensor to it. It will make it easier to work with. The FPR will also get Synflex air line, all with brass fittings. These lines are used on Highway tractors.

Really interested to see the results from this! I've been curious if mine is holding me back.

The plenum looks tiny compared to the runners. Are the runners shorter on the Evo manifold?

Yes, much shorter.

Jason, are you running an Evo manifold?

I mean the runners look beefier. I guess because the plenum is so much smaller, but it looks much sexier

The picture is abit deceiving. The stock 2g has large braces ontop of the runners, that look like part of the runners in the side pic. The runners themselves are basically the same between the two, just the evoIII's are shorter. Its runners fall about midway in length between the stocker & a typical SMIM.

Update:

It's in and I've taken it for a drive. The butt dyno feels good, however the log I got wasn't the best.

Not to mention somehow my rear left e-brake setup inside the drum let go and I think I toasted my front clutch pack as I have first intermittently...

I'll do something about it this weekend.

I'm still on the stock 2g manifold.

Alrighty!

So I don't have a full complete log, but I do have some cruise logs.

A few things to note during the install.

There is a hole on the flange where the EGR is, it must be plugged. A plug from an oil filter housing will do it, I believe the thread pitch is M16X1.5 or whatever the thread size is for an air-air oil filter housing banjo bolt.

Car runs great, except for on a cold start. I get a VERY high idle for about 2 minutes, after that it's good. I'm not sure if that has to do with the FIAV or whatnot, I'm running a 1G throttle body with all 2G sensors.

Overall, I'm happy with it. I do notice a slight amount of low end loss of torque but up top feels darn good.

Numbers to come on Saturday!
