Just finished freshening up a transfer case tonight, thought I'd post a pic. Gotta clean up some bolts and assemble. I'll post up pics of the motor as she comes together this year.

looks like spray caliper silver paint to me. Which works realy well to give parts a brand new look. Of course parts must be perfectly clean before spray.

Well, got busy in the engine bay today. I like my engine bay the way I like women.

Shaved. wink

Just the beginning of filling in a lot of the extra bolt holes. I ran out of wire on my buddy's welder. Got a lot done on it though. More to come.

That "power" cable is actually running from my remote + terminal under the hood to the output of the alternator. smile

Hmmmz... seems I never answered a couple questions in here.

The transfer case was cleaned with Easy Off oven cleaner, then painted. smile

Well a few things have come in over the past little bit.

This came in today, thanks to RTM Racing of course!
[Linked Image]

Few other goodies I've collected along the way:
[Linked Image]
Yes, I know I'm missing a stud. There was also an FP Exhaust manifold in the box, and the numpty didn't really do a good packing job. One stud fell out, ARP donated one to me. smile

[Linked Image]

Block, crank and head are at the machine shop. Head is almost complete, and next is to order the pistons, rods, bearings and headgasket.

Final order will be TURBO!!! demon

Spent most of last night working on her outside. Wire wheel'd the left wheel well and dropped the suspension from both sides. I sprayed the well with asphalt rubberized undercoat. Pics show it still wet. Doing more of the same today.

Well then... I guess it's time to update?

Extreme Powdercoating did a few parts for me.

Lets just say, my engine bay looked great... now its going to look a little better with some subtle hints of....

Yep.

Also got my ONE stud in from ARP today. Waiting on some internals from RTM Racing, which should be here next week!

Looking at those internal goodies makes me jealous. There is nothing like working on your DSM all winter long and then rolling it out on bright spring day and fire it up. Since I moved to Cali (work reasons) I can no longer do that. There is no convenient place to work on my DSM because I live in apartment building. I enjoy excellent weather year around with only few days of rain during winter but the feeling of spring is all gone. I missed my home and family in Canada and defiantly my garage space. Enjoy finishing your build Ryan and have fun with it during summer days.

Yes still here with my spyder that I returned from the dead during Winter 2011 (worked on it in Canada). I am in Cali on TN visa that expires 2014. I hate long winters, wet, gray skies, but when good weather returns to home it's a different story.

Almost ready to paint the engine bay. Got a lot of the sanding/filling done today! Still have a little bit of work left to do under there to get it fully ready to spray, some of the finer details. Also have to weld some new metal in my strut towers. frown

Oh this is coming along great!

Welded in my plate to cover for my cold air intake. Gotta cut a 4" hole in it so I can shove a pipe through and attach a K&N on the underside of it.

I also got my passenger side strut tower welded up today, had a bit of rust and I cut it out, welded new metal in. Tell me if you can see where the rust was. wink It's been sprayed with sandable primer so I can find all the high spots.

Looks good Ryan. Tell me, did u use any filler after grinding the welds? I'm about to try and hide my patch job. Wondering what the best route would be. It looks like your patches are considerably smaller than mine but your welds are nice and flush with the existing surface. Mine need some cosmetic attention before paint.

So the primer was all you used?

Wow, looking great.

I'm pretty sure the rust on my b!tch isn't too bad, but needs work.

I would like to do some body work over the summer.

Will have to know how you did it exactly, as Rob just asked. smile

Rob, I did use a small amount of filler. Trick is to do your welds, grind them down flush and use the body filler to fill in the small holes. If you've ever done any drywall, it's the same concept. Afterwards, I sand with 100 grit until I get everything flush and smooth, leaving very little filler. I don't want anything to crack down the road.

I did draw some decent beads, but this is all with flux wire, no MIG here! After the filler was all sanded down, I sprayed it with the primer so I can find the high spots and smooth it out.

Everything will be sanded with 120 grit before paint. I'm not shooting base/clear, just a couple coats of enamel to clean it up and make her shine a bit.
