True, I got nailed with a radar detector about 7 years ago. Blue unmarked Impala at the time, hunted me down on the 401. I got a speeding ticket over a year ago and had one of those 2 outlet inverters on my seat, and the cop asked what it was, so I showed him. Then he said the reason he asked was that he saw on my record I'd been caught with a radar detector and thought it looked similar.

However, since the Bel STi is undetectable... and if it's hidden... the only possible way I think they could suspect anything is if they hit the car with laser and jams.

Because let's face it. If I was a cop, and my laser gun jammed when pointing it at a lowered, loud red/black 2 door with a shiny radiator thing in front of it, I would pull it over and investigate.

Now the question is, how often is laser used? I doubt the police department here has very many. I know we only have 2 or so cruisers with on-car radars. OPP on the other hand, is a lot more common. That's actually how I got nailed with my speeding ticket, OPP cruiser driving in the opposite direction, and he had his on-car radar ready.

Yeah but Lucian you don't have to worry about that. The STi is a detector not a jammer, and is supposed to be able to detect a great amount of distance.

Check the video for how the spectre works.

Doweled the girdle to a block. Centerline of every main picked up within tenths, then bored for a tap fit, and the girdle cleared on the previous locating machined sides so that only the dowels now locate position. Block is now READY to assemble...........once I powder coat it. wink

I put my tranny on last night to get a feel of how the clutch pedal pressure is. I can't get over it ! It honestly feels lighter than a stock oem clutch to me. A friend of mines says it feels like a stock clutch in a Honda civic pimp Can't wait to drive it demon

I used my engine hoist and leveler last night since I was alone. It does takes longer since I have to pull it out and position it up and all. The good thing is you can get it perfectly straight and not hung up on anything at all, which is crucial when installing a twin disk. The last thing you want is the input shaft getting hung up on the disks, so you want to put the tranny on perfectly straight. Easily done with a hoist and leveller by yourself.

If I have a friend I get him to stand up top while I bench the tranny in from under the car: Lay next to trans, put trans on my chest with help from my friend, keep eyes on dowels, bench and slide tranny on while keeping eyes on the dowels. Keeping your eyes on the dowels while your underneath the car is key, it will line up and slide right on. Makes it a 30 second job. Works for me all the time.

I don't try to bench a tranny in the car with no one else around.

The engine hoist and leveler are a great idea Reza. I use a jack and get it as close as i can then lift it into posistion from over the fender probably not the best way could be why my back and shoulders hurt so much.

Bah!.... you guys are doing it wrong...

You gotta hold onto the fender with one arm... then slowly drop the trans into place from the top with the other arm....
I call it the drop and slide...
Works every time...

HaHa, ya I was jsut playing.
I do the bend over fender, most times and grab the trans from the floor to slide 'er on. I'm not jacked enough to do it with one arm like Helder.... unless the joint can give me super powers...

Oh I'm not kidding, the guy flicks the t-case on the car like it weighs nothing too.

I think he chuckled at me once while I was pulling the hoist out. He grabbed the tranny and slapped it on for me instead. Makes me look like I'm wasting time shuffle

I used to install it by hand alone. The key is to remove the triangular brace from the K member. Now that I'm older and smarter I use the hoist.

When I did my tranny by myself on the 2g, I used a hoist and a lifting strap. Just choked a 6' strap around the body and was able to snug it into place kinda easily. The strap didn't have enough friction to prevent it from turning slightly when I needed it to, but enough to prevent it from rotating on its own. Still haven't figured out how much I should let the engine tilt down to make my life easier on the 2g.

I just lay on a creeper and put the tranny on my chest, rull under the car and lift it up in place, works really well actually if you have everything out of the way. I find it harder with someone else cause they don't usually know their way around a dsm. Not with a twin disk mind you.

Is there something I'm missing because whenever I had to try putting the tranny back into place, there is the one stiffiner that keeps jamming against the subframe when I do it. I basically tilt the engine down until the crank pulley is against the fender well and still have a bitch of a time with that stiffener.

Reza, I'm interested to see how your 60' times are effected the first few times out with the twin.
I know for me, it took a while to find that sweet spot between bogging and over-slipping. Once that was figured out I dropped nearly 0.5s on my ET as compared to my 2600 with essentially the same tune.
