Interested to see how it works out for you. How are you planning on actuating it again? Electronically?

I havent made up my mind... Im prolly gonna just run the actuator off the mbc for now... so it opens at full boost. But others have found, Its should be tuned to open later in the rpms. Closer to the limit of the single scroll airflow. There is a procedure Im gonna try. And Im either gonna open the actuator via a boost solinoid.. or use an electric actuator and a cable. Controlled with the egr solinoid and link.

Ok.. so I went out and played.

8blade hx35, 12cm twin scroll housing... open t3 manifold with my home made quick spool valve. Full boost 27psi.. by 4300 rpms. Most say I wont see boost till after 5000rpms. The valve is opening at full boost, so Ill try holding it shut and get it to spool faster.

Car feels great but I forgot how much I hate the open wastegate. Cant seem to get my coupler to hold boost. and Im still seeing lots of smoke.

From a past experience with a blown turbo, it takes a while to burn all the oil out of the exhaust, lots gets soaked into the flex section of the downpipe.

Yup...took me a lot of driving and many hundreds of km for mine to stop smoking from all the oil built up in the exhaust system.

Did it seem to smoke alot during hard acceleration??. I didnt bother to put a light in my oil pressure gauge.. so I have to wait till tomorrow to see what my pressure is doing. Its a .078 with 4an feed line off the ofh. And a 18"" drain hose. no shafts. ported ofh

Yeah, cause you're getting the exhaust a lot hotter and there's a much higher velocity/volume of air moving through the system. The harder you drive it the more it will smoke and eventually it should stop smoking.

ok.. So as it seemed.. I was doing some practice runs in mexico.. And developed a tapping noise.

Which came to this.

So I have a spare low milage block.. Gonna put it in the basement and do a full oem rebiuld.

From all the part outs Ive done.. I have kept any new unused gaskets and seals found in the vehicles. I actually now have every gasket and seal to rebiuld the block, I am only missing the rear main seal. And Ill be buying new bearings and rings.

You now have perfect excuse for Sandra to play in garage all winter long. On the side note, how come only one rod was bent? Any sign of damages on the second rod?

So "if yer not on facebook"....

I have successfully rebuilt a transmission that could hold 400lbs of torque...
But wrapping a header is an art I have yet to master!
[Linked Image]

First shot looked horrible,
[Linked Image]
The I cleaned it up and tightened it a bit. Looks better but its still a mess. Ill prolly take it off.. All the uneven layers will cause too many heat spots!

Great idea Jay!

But doesn't the driver side axle bolt to the block where your alternator bracket is? Clearance?

It fits fine. like the jayracing kit... have to swap out the passenger side bolt for a longer one to wirk with the half shaft.
As far as replacing the Alt? Ive had the motor out more times then I needed to replace that alternator.. or pump.

Check your fuel pressure to ensure it does rise with boost.

Race seats for everyone!

+1, you might be running out of fuel pressure, could be as simple as a small leak at the fuel pump o-ring into the sender.

Actually. Cheched everything. Everything checked ok. Took the turbo off to work on the qsv and it's was black! It's been running very rich even tho the wideband has always been showing lean. Already bought a new LC2 set up that I'm configuring to be an easy swap back and forth from 1g to 2g. And putting a stock O2 back on the 2g.
