Incase you were wondering if I painted my bolts black, I didnt. I polished them all clean and sent them out for zinc coating. Just another side of my OCD

Were did you get the bolts done from and how much does it cost ? Also how long would they take.

M&M plating in Scarberia. 175 minimum lot charge, plus 60 dollars to strip any cadium/zinc from them prior to plating.

I paid almost 300 because I did Mike Degli Angeli's too, and the cost was more because we wanted to keep the lots separate, so theres not too much savings when you get a buddy involved.

Took two business days to get them back. You can get lots of different colours. I like black.

Notice the second bolts pic. I spent about 5 hours in front of a pedestal grinder cleaning the rust off and polishing them before the plating. The better you do, the better the bolts turn out.

EDIT: This is nearly every bolt on the car F*ck you rust

Thanks guys. Imagine if I had the time to work on it. It's in a different city 2.5 hours from me at my parents garage. I wish I could just come home after work and tinker with it every day. My trips are planned and carefull strategy is placed to optimize progress with the limited time I have when I'm there.

Sigh, one day I'll be out of debt, and be able to buy a house with a garage. *dreams*

Rob, I am building an engine over the next year and I am definitely keeping on eye on what you are doing as inspiration. My engine now was basically just do what I can to get it together and do it well while not spending too much. I like the colours you chose they all look real good.

Looks nice Rob, though how to you think all the cooling system hoses and seals will seal against that wrinkle red powder coat ?

its been buzzed off where o-rings meet sealing surfaces.

Hoses Im not worried about. All new silicone will be installed. All new clamps. Those combined with the beads, should hold for years and years.

Thanks I've been looking for a good price on a set for literally 3 years or so. Finally found what I wanted!

I spent about 4 hours on it today; wash, clay bar and wax. Now I'll see if I can bring home a trophy tomorrow... doubtful, car is not nearly ricey enough to get trophies.

Thanks Brian. It was some flight school in Milton i just happened to drive by on my cruise. I figured it would make a great backdrop so i doubled back and snapped a few before anyone chased me off.

It is also my fav shot. It is hard to see with the pic so small but my wife managed to get a plane coming in to land in the shot.
