Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I'm absolutely sick over this.

I was at the Cineplex theater in Niagara Falls. Stay away, or drive your beater. The manager at the theater said that I'm lucky my car is still there, a lot of vehicles get stolen there.

I'm pissed off because now my insurance is likely going to go up. This isn't going to be a cheap claim at all. Upon further inspection, there is a lot of miscellaneous damage;

-They pried against the dash trying to pull the deck out, so the dash is all chewed up.
-They pulled the deck out so hard that it snapped the factory tabs, so mounting a new deck is going to be nearly impossible.
-They factory harness is ruined.

The police are suppose to call me today, and my insurance company is going to send an adjuster tomorrow to estimate the damage.

If they know it happens a lot, why doesn't an unmarked cruiser pass once in a while in that area? You'd think cops in the region would be up for some easy bookings.

Yeah. If they know things happen there, why not do something about it??

I hope things go okay with the claim and all frown.

Private property..Cineplex would have to request it. But the cops are probably too busy chasing down kids with loud cars going 5KM/H over the limit anyway.

I can't believe someone would do this to you, Jay. They should be charged with defacing a piece of artwork!

I hope I never find someone doing something like this to my Talon. I don't think jail would suit me.

Gui, I met a guy who was from out east and he would tell me story about how they would always leave their doors unlocked, because if you are caught stealing they would cut your hands off.

It DOES sound like it is going to be a lot of damage....

In Hamilton a few years back when they had cars disappearing all the time from Limeridge Mall, the cops but some "bait" cars in there with GPS's in them reporting their location constantly...then they just had to pick up the criminals whenever one of them moved.

Just sickening how some people think they can just take what they want instead of earning it, ugh. I just don't know how these type of people can not have any sort of remorse for things like this.

I hope you get it sorted out and somehow, the person(s) involved get what's coming to them.

I guess worst case scenario, you could do the deck relocation, get the triple gauge pod that goes in the stock location and drops the deck down below where it is less visible.

Awful. Feel terrible for you. As the others said...better that the culprit was gone by the time you got back lest him meet a painful end.

As some have mentioned...that's going to be $$$.

Hopefully the seats didn't get damaged. I know of S2k's that have been written off because the seats got damaged by the glass and it was cheaper to write the car off than try and get seats from Honda, if they even could.

I know of a few people that just leave their doors unlocked - they figure if someone's going to steal something they may as well steal it and not ruin the interior/windows...these people also leave nothing in their cars.

Either way, crappy situation...hope it all gets sorted out appropriately.

Yeah, Sometimes the insurance company would rather just pay you out than go through this kind of repair. Plus the EVO was never made here so I don't know how that will effect the situation. IMO you should have never even went through insurance, with the claim on the record and possible insurance spike would it even be worth it ?

Hopefully it gets sorted out and the adjuster isn't an ass.

A new alarm was in the works. I just finished the install of the new intercooler and I was happy to have it running.

I thought it would be nice to give it a wash, and take the girlfriend out for dinner and a movie.

I'm still debating whether or not to go through insurance.

An adjuster is suppose to come out and look at it tomorrow. The aforementioned damage isn't going to be cheap. The biggest thing is the glass though. I did some searching and found the factory glass is $300+. I did happen to find someone selling the glass on eBay for $45.

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/MITSUBISHI-EVOLUTION-LANCER-EVO-8-9-GSR-OEM-FRONT-PASSENGER-WINDOW-GLASS-03?item=121121898315&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8431796815617374866

I may just count the deck as a loss. Scoop up the glass, replace it myself and not have to claim in under insurance.

This would be my first claim ever, so the people I have talked to said that it shouldn't increase my premium. I'm insured through Grant so we'll see what he has to say tomorrow.

Carproof reports count break'ins as damage, hurting the overall value.

So if you decide to not go through insurance, you'll likely end up saving money in the long run.

Was it the stock stereo that was installed?

And this pretty much settles it... I feel I've been pretty damn lucky in the past with regards to my cars security, but I think I should get on that pager alarm bus.

I had just bought a Kenwood DDX770 double din screen.

I've been looking on Kijiji to see if it comes up for sale.

It's pretty much useless considering I have all of the mounting pieces in my garage.

All the deterrent's possible outside of flame throwers under the car and electrified door handles..I have on my car tu

So yeah, pager alarms are great.

Funny thing is, all you really need is a led flashing in your car that's visible when your alarm system is armed and that's usually enough to turn thieves away.

Wow so sorry to hear Jay frown

Such a shame you can't even enjoy one day of having your car back without some waste of air lowlife looking to make a quick buck.

Now I could be very, very wrong. But as far as I know the Evo 7-9 share the same front doors as the regular Lancer of the same generation. Maybe you can get lucky and find glass at the local scrapyard or something for cheap? Again you will have to verify, but it would be worth a shot if the other falls through.

Johnny, that's the exact link I just posted! Hahah.

I would have bought it but the title says that it's the front glass, but in the description it says it's the rear. I'm waiting to hear back for the seller.

Lucian, it's a good idea, but I'm 99% sure the glass is different frown

Rock Auto has the window glass listed for $87 and it's the same glass on the Evo's/Lancers from 2002-2007.

There's also a DSM tuners discount code for RA for 20% off I believe.

Jay, if you need to get any parts from the states let me know, you can ship to my US address and I'll cross them for you.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for the Kenwood DDX770 double din screen. Kijiji/ebay but chances are he'll sell it on some forum to keep it on the DL. So if you're part of Honda forums, I'd check those too.

Then again, there are quite a number of pawn shops around Niagara too.

In regards to the CF hood and hatch...

Keep it, or pitch it?

Am I the only one who likes spoilers on DSMs? Shaving them takes away from the agressive-ness.

I say, keep the CF hood, and keep the trunk/hatch OEM.

John... puke puke puke

I like the look of both, I'm not happy with the fitment of the trunk though. I might pitch it and then clean up my stock spoiler (wet sand, re-clear)

I say, keep the CF hood, and keep the trunk/hatch OEM.

I agree with all the above, but keep the trunk and put OEM wing on. Imo.

I've seen several Evo's with CF trunks and I've yet to seen one fit 100% correctly, that's a big turnoff in my book.

Hood looks good though. From a weight savings standpoint though, I've heard the Evo's stock aluminum hood is 2 pounds lighter than the Seibon CF hood, I'm sure each brand varies a little but either way, it's not really much of an upgrade in that aspect.

I would keep the wing. I like Evos with and without them just as much. But what other 4 door (beside the STY?) can pull off such a big wing so nicely?

I've seen so many different combinations of hoods, trunks, etc on Evos. Any as long as it doesn't have a gay bodykit or some retarded paint job, it's pretty hard to mess up an Evo.

But remember, if it's staying wingless, aim for at least 600awhp. I find the wingless ones are generally the retardedly fast ones wink

Love me cf on a red car!
I think the best combo would be CF hood and wing, stock hatch, but yours still looks amazing.

Do what I am doing run a wingless cf one, and a painted one with a wing!

Doesnt hurt to have enough spare parts to change my car's body panels like I change my shoes!

I personally loved it the way it was at the cruise! When you miss the wing throw the stock trunk back on!! smile

We ll need to photo shoot our cf ed cars together when mine is ready!!

Im going to fix and vent my damaged CF VIS hood, paint it and hood pin it for track use. keep my OEM CF hood. Going to repair and paint my worst stock windowed hatch, install the turbo wing and hatch pins. Then I can swap to my CF/lip spoiler/FAL hatch, and I have yet another CF hatch that will need a FAL window and maybe a high downforce wing (yet to be determined).

Doors and sunroof next, Then CF fever is cured.

That's a bit too much cf tongue I'd say ditch some extra and get cf fenders, if you can find them. More weight savings, less parts to store.

As for the main question, keep the cf parts, paint them if you wish even. You have them, why not keep them (unless you don't want them and you found a buyer for them). Personally I'd get a spoiler for it. Always loved the spoiler on the evo (obviously, installed on the evo only tongue )

Jay, keep them as is. They're nice the way they are. BUT, I would recommend re-clearing them. It will save the GEL coat from UV rays.

I love the hood, and now that I've painted the vent grille matte black, it looks A LOT better.

The trunk, different story. It looks cool and it's well built, but like Jason mentioned, they fit like garbage! I made every adjustment possible to try and get it flush, including sitting in my trunk space with the lid closed adjusting the striker!

I think that's the only issue I have with it. The spoilerless look is growing on me, and I'm slowly getting around to fixing the clear coat on my factory spoiler.

I'm also considering sanding the paint off the sides of the spoiler to expose the carbon. That's another option.

Thanks for the opinions fellas!
