Hey guys, I took a look at the drip rails being plastidipped then someone posted the link to the entire car dipping site.

Anyone know if there's any place in Ontario that does this?

I'm interested.

I know Google is my best friend, but you know ca.dsm.org members are...word of mouth and referrals to the best of the best.

I ve done alot of research on this. Its about $150 to do the enire car and have a bit left over for touch ups.... Youll need touch ups. only can to black. Canadians cant seem to buy any other colour other the black. Yet yellow plastidipped rims look sweet! And ive only found black online from quebec or ebay.

If you scratch the plastidip... You spray some more on and you will never know it was scratched. It will handle thru carwashes and winters no prob. People with $250,000 lambos do it all the time!

Just in case you're looking to buy A LOT of plastidip

http://www.pispeedshops.com/collections/plasti-dip/products/plasti-dip-case-discount

These guys have 4 colors (red/black/clear/white) and it's in Canada.

You can also just go on kijii as there's a whole bunch of people buying it in the States for 5.99-6.99$ and selling it here for 13$ to make a small profit.

I think this is something you could do yourself though, no need for a shop for plastidip if you take your time.

Those are spray cans.

What do you think about the kits from this place http://www.dipyourcar.com/ ?

Seems like a cheaper alternative to painting the car. That's why I'm interested haha

The paint on my car isn't so great I don't think. The last time I remember seeing her.

Maybe Brendan can chime in about the condition of the paint on me car.

Ahh yeah I actually did my whole car with cans. It took about 15 cans to do the whole thing and I bought 5 extra just in case. Cost me 300 bucks in total. It was my first time doing a job like this (painting / plastidipping) but I must say it wasnt all that hard. Its really easy to work with and its very forgiving when you make a mistake. When I did my car everything came out well except my hood. I found the hood and the top of the car the hardest because I was spraying down. You can do a pretty good job with the cans as long as your patient. The best thing about the gallons and the spray gun is that it has a much wider spray then the cans which makes it much easier to get an even coat over the whole car. If I were to redo it I would probably go with the spray gun or find a spray tip that I can put on the cans that makes it spray a bit wider.

I know someone who imports from the US...is there a lot of interest in this? Should I see if it is possible to establish a wholesale account with them?

Im waaaaaay ahead of you guys on the plasti-dip front! Looking at the sad state of my clear coat I was considering doing this after priming my car for paint to keep it safe until I gather the needed $$ for a nice paint job.

I found a place that does this professional style plasti-dip your whole car very close by

http://www.dipyourwhip.ca/ I already called and got a quote for my entire car ($600) and for the wheels to be done black another $100...

But then I thought.. why don't I just buy that 3XX.xx kit from that site I linked. I'm just waiting for it to arrive.

I don't know if any of you have used plasti-dip before but its amazing stuff.. I've seen tons of youtube vids on this.. just don't pressure wash it off your car.. lol

Watching videos, supposedly you can pressure wash your car, he does it with one of the cars he has.

That kit for 300 is a really good deal!! It includes the paint sprayer which I am sure is pretty expensive.

Its very interesting product that is for sure. I am thinking that once able to apply smoothly it would be great for the rear spoiler of a 1GA where they seem to go so flat black after a billion years that they are in age

It comes in gloss, but not sure if the Canadian vendors carry it.

That American plastidip site does.

this is a great way to fix my two tone issue I've got going on since my driver side rear quarter panel is the factory silver and the driver door + fender is freshly painted maybe 3 - 4 years ago..?

Also, this method cuts down the prep work which is the most time consuming too.. smile

I've personally seen a car done by the guy at dipyourcar.ca, his job was mint, well worth the $600.

You can do it yourself for about half, but it does take some practice to get it right.

My wheels are done in plastidip, have been since last year, this stuff does hold up well. I've had a couple little chips in it, but just a quick touch up spray fixes it right up, it does not show at all, no over spray like normal paint.

ya I def wanna give this a shot aswell, but i think i'd rather get that kit from dipyourcar.com or whatever.

I'd like to assemble my montreal style garage in my laneway and spray inside of that. my garage is too tiny and i don't want to deal with over spray.

I get mine from Ace Hardware for $8.49 a can, so $20 is a bit steep.

Figure I would toss this here.

http://www.ippnet.com/coatings-adhesives-a-cleaners/paints-product/plastidip.html

Is a place in Canada that carries the full Plasti-dip line. They have the gallon cans available, however, it is a bit steep at $116/gal. But you can at least use a HVLP of any kind to throw it on. It might be cheaper in the 5gal kit, but forgot to ask.

That's a little ridiculous, DYC has gals for 54-74 obviously it's a lot more work to get it here, but I would say worth the effort.
Also seems DYC is now dealing with Canadians, at a bit of an increase, but seems cheaper than there.

Missed that, was just going from the comment Joe made.

I'll be firing an email to Patrick today and see what the $225 car kit includes that is listed on the page you linked Bryan.

Also the place I contacted, I'm sure can be haggled down, I just didn't have the time to do it.

I will be attempting this once the better weather comes back around but i'm buying the paint now I have found it for $12 on kijiji, I figure i'll need 10 cans of colour and 2 black for the roof. If you think you can get it cheaper Ziggy let me know and i'll deal with you instead.

Hey Andrew can you report back on the car kit, I am curious too cause I think the cheapest car kit on their site is $300.

KIRK, do not rattle can your car, I have seen it done and it looks like sh!t. Especially the hood and the roof. Plus you wouldn't be saving that much going that route, the extra cost for the car kit would be minimal and you would get a good paint gun out of it.
