I just tried to rattle dip my car camo tan, and as soon as I can I will be peeling it off, I just couldn't get the consistency right, it was blotchy and runny, probably more operator fault than product but thought I would share my experience, maybe it would have been better thinned out and with a gun??

Johnny can your contact get gallon cans of dip that are not thinned? I'd be interested in 3 gallons of white if so, convinced myself to spray the GSX with it for the summer!

im way too embarrassed to show pics, im thinking that the cans must have been too cold or something along those lines.
and to top it off its not thick enough to peel easy and i won't spent more money just to peel it off.
but i probably would be up for retrying with a spray gun and thinners.

Ooo nice thread ...

I have been researching about plastidip for a while.
In CA I might even go for it smile

In Croatia there is only one supplier and a 5l can is 296$ smirk

How well does it protect from small rocks and salt ?

From previous reviews from other users on this forum, it holds up very well. And for the times it doesn't, you just have a spray can on the side and you can cover it up no problem.

Light blue is the original blue, more than likely that's what he wants. Navy Blue is relatively new

The Navy Blue is exclusive to Dipyourcar. It can't be bought directly from Plasti Dip international. After more research, I may end up doing a custom blue so put me down for Clear.

Gloss is always nice! If it wasn't for my car having different coloured panels I wouldn't bother with the plasti dip smile Well im looking into prices and if anyone is interested still it looks like its cheaper to go with the old model spray gun the dipyourcar used (wagner w550) which is $100 at homedepot and picking up 2 gallons of premixed dip which im hoping isn't more than $200. Ill have to get a hold of this guy
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...9186-W0QQAdIdZ462624838QQfeaturedAdZtrue
and find out the prices. Ill keep everyone updated.

I've been following plasti dip for awhile now and the selection of colours seems to increase every year. I believe you can also create your own colour if you're interested in doing something a bit more custom.

Yeah you can, you can mix galons together to get different colours.
Only one I have seen so far is people using black to get a darker blue.
For the current gun and 2 gallons it's $300, it can't be that much more once it gets here. I am sure there is a good reason they switched guns.

Is that through Dipyourcar.com? Thats a pretty good deal! I was watching a video of when they switched guns and he said the main reason for switching was because working with the new gun is just a lot easier due to not having to worry about the dip being directly attached to it. It also has better spray settings for a wider spray! If I can scoop up the new gun with 2 gallons for a little over $300 I'd be all over that.

This is the current kijiji ad for the original dipyourcarcanada seller:

http://ontario.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...-plastidip-plasti-dip-W0QQAdIdZ470833191

But there are plenty now, including those in the GTA, here is the Canadian list:

https://www.dipyourcar.com/pages.php?pageid=55

The only thing is that these people only carry pre-thinned ready to spray dip. You can save money buying the original stuff in the States and thinning it yourself. It's $60-$70 a galleon sprayable or not. So get unthinned and a gallon of toluene from Canadian Tire for $20 and you got yourself two gallons.

I wonder how much paint it would take to just paint the lower half and keep the top black. Anyone tried it yet?

YEP! I've done a lot of pondering myself and I decided to only use plastidip to protect a new paint job when I do it. Kind of like what Greg K. Did to the front half of his car to protect it in the winter time. BUT.. instead of using a sh!t ton of masking tape for a long cruise down a highway, plastidip the front using aersol and peel it away for 'showing off' the paint job.

It's a great way to protect the paint! Mine looks perfect after all winter. 3M also has a new spray on clear rubber coating that they sell in a spray can now too I noticed.. they show it being peeled off on the commercial just like plastidip.

All I can recommend is that you put it on THICK. I did not put enough coats on my Evo and it was an absolute nightmare to peel. I ended up pressure washing it off with the nozzle on highest pressure and staying in each spot for a long time until it broke through the dip. It took hours and hours and hours to remove all the dip and who knows how many gallons of water smile

If you do it yourself it shouldn't be more than $400.
I did my rims and it said I would need six cans, only ended up using 2.5 cans so you might have some left over paint.

I thought you were supposed to apply it generously so that peeling it off is a lot easier?
